This 1998 Volkswagen Jetta GLS has been donated to our non-profit organization, and we have not driven the vehicle ourselves. We understand that this VW runs and drives fine, AND WAS NOT AFFECTED IN ANY WAY BY HURRICANE SANDY! The car had been moved inland before the storm hit, and was not in the flooded area! The car is completely roadworthy, but will need work on the power steering. It leaks fluid, and we are unsure if it is due to the power steering pump, return lines, or the power steering rack itself. The car has 260,000 miles on it, and the 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder engine with the 5 speed manual transmission averages 30 mpg! The car is front wheel drive (great in the snow!), has new tires, and the glass, brakes, and exhaust are all in good condition. The car has its original clutch which is working as it should, and the car has an AM/FM single CD player with MP3 connections, an electric sliding sunroof, power door locks, and the Air Conditioning works fine. The car is in good condition in and out (see pics). The exterior does have some small dings and minimal rust spots that one would expect on a car of this age and mileage. The paint on the roof is also starting to lose it's clearcoat. The interior is in decent condition as well. The seat covers were added to dress up the inside. The cloth seats underneath the covers are in decent condition, but could use a good cleaning. A complete cleaning and a good waxing would make A WORLD of difference on this car!
