Vehicle Detail
Up for auction with NO RESERVE with a starting bid of only $0.99 is a 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. The highest bidder gets the car regardless of the bid size. This is one of only 2250 Eliminators produced in 1969. Additional info on these highly desirable rare cars can be found at the link below: http://eliminator.mercurycougarregistry.com/ This is a Fully Documented Numbers Matching Eliminator project verified with a Marti Report. It is also verified and listed in the Cougar Eliminator Registry. It comes complete with all the hard to find and expensive "Eliminator Only" items including its Original Ford Hood Scoop, Original Ford Plastic Rear Wing, Front Lower Spoiler, Drivers Side Sport Mirror, Eliminator Wheels, and Camera Case Dash Pieces. This car retains its original Numbers Matching 351 Windsor motor that has been fully rebuilt (zero miles). It also still has its original numbers matching FMX tranny that is reportedly to have been rebuilt by a previous owner ( I had the pan off while detailing the tranny and believe the rebuild claim is authentic as it was super clean inside without any abnormal odor or metal debris inside), it also retains its original 3.00 rear gear. The car was originally produced in White with a Black Decor interior but is now in primer to keep the rust away after being sandblasted. The options according to the Marti report (see photo below for a copy of the report) on this car include, the Eliminator Package, FMX Cruise-O-Matic Transmission, F70-14 Tires, Console, Power Front Disk Brakes Console, Power Steering, Air Conditioning, Power Brakes, AM Radio, Decor Group, Tinted Glass, Remote Control Left Hand Racing Mirror and Heavy Duty Suspension. The restoration was started by one shop and then moved to Tom Lawrance's KTL Restorations in Danville, Virginia where over $16,000 was invested by the previous owner. KTL's website link is http://www.ktlrestorations.com/home.htm . Please take a few minutes to see the quality of work performed by KTL. KTL sandblasted the car inside and out and replaced the full floor, torque boxes, firewall, and cowl, some inner trunk panels and much more. There is still some finishing work to do before the will be ready for paint but the all the hard work has been done. The exterior has had some less than desirable work done in the past prior to KTL working on the car that will need to be addressed. Please look closely at the photos. I have placed additional 50+ photos for your review at the link below since ebay will only allow us to post 24 photos in its auctions. http://scottsgaragesale.weebly.com/1969-eliminator-project.html KTL also did a COMPLETE rebuild of the engine which included boring the block, new pistons, rings, bearings, cam, lifters, oil pump, timing chain and gears, valve job, etc. etc. No corners were cut in the rebuilding process. The car comes nearly complete. When looking at the parts that came with it when I purchased it. I did notice that there is no radiator or shroud, windshield, drivers side quarter window and radio. I'm sure there are some other small items that may have been misplaced along the way but it appears to me to be nothing that can't be found easily. Also included with the sale of this car is a digital copy of the Ford Service Manual Volume 1-5 for the 1969 Cougars. The CD also covers Falcons, Fairlanes, Mustangs, T-Birds, Montegos,Meteors, Continentals, and Continental Mark III. There have been numerous new parts installed on this car already and it comes with many other new parts as well. Included is the following: a Brand New Pair of Rechromed Bumpers ($950), NOS Hood Front Lip and Front Fender Eyebrow Mouldings ($1000), Black Carpet Set ($150), 2 Trunk Mats (one plaid & one hi-quality speckled style), Full Set of Trunk Underlayment Tar Pieces, Rebuilt Power Brake Booster & Master Cylinder ($175), Power Steering Ram ($125), Water Pump, Pair of Rebuilt Calipers and Front Brake Hoses, Fuel Tank, Upper A-frames w/Ball Joints and Spring Perches, Lower A-frames w/Ball Joints, Idler Arm, Strut Bushings, Brand New 205/70R/14 tires ($300), AC Valve, and Windshield Washer Reservoir. The interior has a very nice set of of Original Eliminator Seats and Console. The Original Camera Case Dash Components are in very nice shape as are the door and rear interior panels. Check out the photos to see exactly how nice they are. The person that buys this car will have the option of picking through all of the 1969-70 parts I have collected over the past 4 years and include them at NO COST with the purchase of this car. The parts include several tubs containing wiring harnesses, trim pieces, one door, a trunk lid, a pair of Ford Service replacement Upper A-frames, grille pieces, several super nice Grade A 1970 headlight doors, and much much much more. Even though most of this stuff is not needed to finish this car the sale of the extra parts would certainly help with the restoration costs. The only stipulation is that whatever parts the winning bidder should want must be picked up the same time as the car. This car can be inspected most anytime by appointment. Should you have any questions please ask before you bid. Once again should you like to see additional photos please check out the link below: http://scottsgaragesale.weebly.com/1969-eliminator-project.html Prior to bidding on this car please make sure you have at least 5 positive feedbacks in your profile otherwise I may cancel your bid unless you call me first at (860) 608-1885.
