Vehicle Detail

I have a very clean and rare 1980 International Scout II for sale. It only has a little under 20,000 miles. It is the 4 cylinder, 196, exactly half of the 392 and it has all the cooling room of the 392 so the engine stays very cool. It is a 4 speed manual with manual locking hubs. The Scout drives and stops great. I am the third owner, the first owner used the Scout to haul a trailer to dog shows and the second owner used the Scout to commute before retiring it to his driveway where it sat for many years. This is my third Scout and by far the best I have ever owned. The engine isn't the most powerful when it comes to steep hills but it cruises along great and can do 75 on the freeway. The Scout has little to no rust which is getting harder and harder to find in Scouts that haven't been completely restored. The inside floor pan and parts of the outside are lined with Durabak bed liner. The body mounts and pan are in perfect condition. The seats are leather and in great condition, it has Fox shocks in the front and an aftermarket 1 ton track bar, so it drives straight down the road. For the most part I haven't done much to the Scout and it is in remarkable condition. I had the brakes completely gone through and got it a fresh paint job with the stock color. It does have a couple small dings and dents but overall is really nice. I also have the original owners manual and Line Setting Ticket which show where and when it was built and all the options included when built. The lights work and even has the lights that illuminate the inside floor panels which is pretty cool at night. The heat works great and the air conditioner blows hard but not cold, I imagine it just needs a recharge. It also has the original AM radio which still works. It also has the push bottom where you can push it to start the engine in a tight spot. Overall, its a great Scout. Also, I can deliver within 300 miles for a charge, other than that you either have to come get it or get a truck service to deliver it to you. If you have any questions just let me know. On Oct-14-12 at 19:57:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, I left some stuff out. The Scout has Dana 44's with 3.73 gears I had the seals on the rear axle replaced but recently the front axles has started a slow leak. It has power steering, Front Disc brakes and rear drums that have been completely gone through but the emergency brake doesn't work but the regular brakes work great. The gauges jump around a lot, the engine level works good but the temp gauge doesn't move and the Speedo jumps around a lot and you cant depend on it and the gas tank gauge only goes up half way. Also, I have the original carburetor on it and it is rare and hard to tune and fouls plugs a lot but I want to keep it original just in case somebody wants it because I know these carbs are rare and can be found on some Scout sites for $700+. I would say I replace the plugs at least twice a month if I drive it around a lot but it sits most of the time. I'm not sure how much of an issue that could be for a potential buyer because I imagine most people are going to swap in a big V-8 and throw a lift kit and 35's on it. Also, the Durabak bed liner is kind of a home made job and not as nice looking as a Rhino liner job but it is very durable and gets the job done. Overall, this is a great Scout in awesome condition for the lack work done too it. It is extremely hard to find a Scout that is in this good of condition that hasn't been completely restored. It is a great base Scout with the important/major areas in good condition. The key point being the lack of rust and it being unmolested. I have had project Scouts where I have spent countless hours replacing sheet metal and the more you dig into it the more rust you find and even when you are done its usually not as good as it was originally. Another key point is the fact that it hasn't been molested and everything is in stock condition so you can do with it what you want and not have to worry about having to fix somebody's mistakes. It does have small issues and isn't in show room condition but its a great Scout and worth the money. Scouts like this are getting harder and harder to find. On Oct-17-12 at 20:49:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, it looks like the reserve has been met and the Scout is going to sell. I prefer a transfer through the bank for the payment because I prefer not to use Paypal because of the additional charges. However, it seems as though Paypal is a good option when accepting a deposit due at the end of auction. The initial posting didn't have a deposit but having a deposit has a couple useful purposes, so as of 8/17/12 at 9 PM there is a $500.00 deposit due within 24 hours of the END of the Auction. The deposit and payment can be accepted through Paypal but I would prefer to have the deposit through Paypal and the Payment through a bank account transfer to avoid unnecessary fees from Paypal. The deposit is just to assure me that the winner/bidder is committed to complete the purchase and to show the buyer that the vehicle will not be sold to somebody else. On Oct-19-12 at 14:43:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Okay, there are some things I left out. The tail lights and headlights and side panel lights work perfect. The turn signals and turn signal lights inside work and the fuel gauge does in fact work fine. One big plus that I left out is the great gas mileage of the Scout. I would say that it gets around 14 mpg, which is better than any other Scout out there, Scouts are notorious gas hounds and this one having the less common 196 is a huge plus and although it may not be the best on hills is has great torque and stays extremely cool, which means it will last a lot longer.
