No Reserve after initial bid. This beautiful & rare 1958 Chevrolet Apache is in excellent condition throughout. It has only 45,303 ACTUAL DOCUMENTED MILES and the clear VA title is in my name and marked “A” by DMV for Actual Miles as well. This vehicle has had only a few local owners and was sold new in Bedford, VA, only 20 miles away. I have the original keys in a leather wrapped switchblade-style holder with “Bedford Motors” stamped into it. This truck has not been rebuilt and only mildly restored. Read on for a detailed description of each area of the vehicle: Body: The body was repaired 8 years ago and repainted Ferrari red. Almost all traces of the original green color have been erased except for the bottom side of the floors. There is no green showing in the door jambs, under the hood, under the dash, or between the cab and bed – it was done right by a prior owner. The prior owner had replaced the cab corners and rockers and they have held up well. When I got the truck it had 3 or 4 spots that were showing some age or bubbling so I took the truck to a highly respected shop, Wide Open Customs in Roanoke, VA and had them replace the bottom 1/3 of the RF fender, new tailgate, and generally go through the exterior to remove all flaws and repaint as necessary. It looks fantastic now and has only one run on the driver’s door that was existing that I forgot to show them. I can’t get it to show up on the photos and in person, it only shows itself at just the right angle. The rest of the paint is not quite show grade but is far better than most cruise-night vehicles. It draws lots of attention. If I had to pick something to complain about it would be the way the doors close. They are properly adjusted with good gaps but the new rubber seals are probably harder than the originals and you have to shut the doors very hard to make them close all the way. I think the only fix is to wait for the seals to get old and mold themselves to the doors. During my ownership, I had the three large emblems re-chromed by Concord Plating in NC, replaced the bumpers, hubcaps, mirrors, headlight trim, etc. The only original chrome are the door handles, everything else looks flawless. The tires are brand-new $1000 Diamondback RADIALS. FRAME & UNDERSIDE: The frame is in excellent condition with no rust or damage. It was painted black 8 years ago and has held up well. You can see the backside of some of the welds from the rocker panel replacement and If I had done the work, it would have looked neater. The suspension appears all stock and has no known issues and the truck tracks nice and straight and runs smooth on the radials. This truck is licensed & insured and driven on nice days. You will notice there are no wheel weights – I used Dyna Beads to balance the wheels and they work great and leave the rims looking so much better and uncluttered. Glass: The glass appears all original and in excellent condition. Most pieces have the original “Safety Plate” lettering and shield. I replaced the driver’s side vent window due to bubbling. The driver’s side roll-down glass is starting to fog around the edge by just 1/4" but all other glass is bubble-free and fog-free. The windshield has a small star about the size of a dime but it won’t show up in the photos. INTERIOR: Excellent seat, dash, headliner, sunvisors. The carpet was installed by a previous owner and looks great but has too many seams and is not up to the quality of the rest of the truck. The heater appears to be brand new, the speedometer, odometer, temp gauge, oil gauge and ammeter all work and are accurate. The turn signals and dash indicator lights work and so does the horn. The gas gauge works sometimes. I have not fiddled with it but it’s comforting to know that both the sender and the gauge are sold as reproductions – which is unusual availability for a ’58. The dash has separate Choke and Throttle pulls – the only one connected is the Choke and the truck starts and runs great with just that. Included with the truck is an expensive Pendleton Chippewa blanket. My wife added it to give the Apache a dash of color and style. It can be used to keep your lady warm on those cool fall cruise nights – she’ll love it and your “new” truck! MECHANICAL: As far as I can tell, and as reported to me by the seller, the engine has never been apart or rebuilt. It still runs perfectly with no bad sounds, no smoke, and no leaks. It starts easily every time and has never overheated. As stated, the 45,303 miles are actual and documented and agree with the clear title. The truck still has a generator and a floor-operated starter and is 12 volts from the factory. A prior owner painted everything black. The 3-speed trans works great and has no issues. The clutch works great and grabs with no slippage. There is a little chatter if you let the clutch out too fast. The brakes work great with no pull. The parking brake works but is not strong enough to hold on a moderate hill on its own. I would rate this truck as mechanically excellent overall. BED: The bed floor was already replaced before I got the truck and it appears to be oak with a honey stain and looks beautiful! This truck needs nothing and is ready to enjoy right now!
