Vehicle Detail

You're viewing a fantastic example of a 1969 VW Type III Fastback (affectionately known as a "Fasty") which recently came from Portland, Oregon. This VW has a rebuilt 1600cc engine (with good compression) mated with 4 speed transmission. The Fasty's Royal Red paint is worn to a great patina with a clear coat and luggage rack, giving it that vintage look. It turns heads at VW shows and receives plenty of smiles, honks, and peace signs wherever it goes! The stock fuel injection has been updated with dual carbs, a new fuel pump and a SCAT cam. With the exception of the "hellhole" beneath the battery, the floorpans are solid and the front end has been slightly lowered, resulting in a nice rake. The front disc brakes stop nicely with new calipers and hoses. The interior is aged, but original and still presentable. Comes complete with original radio (not presently operating) mounted on the dash. The 205-60/15 radials have plenty of tread and are mounted on rare vintage Brazilian Mangels chrome wheels. Other recent work includes: Installation of a new gas fume elimination tubeNew fuel linesNew front and rear window sealsNew distributor cables and spark plugsNew Air BellowNew Fuel Sending UnitValves adjusted, full tune up & oil changeSump plate resealedNew upper ball jointsRepacked wheel bearingsNew front seat beltsNew battery12 Volt power plug installed (to use with GPS and/or charging cellphone) Includes original VW service manual, as well as service and repair handbooks from Clymer, Haynes and Bentley. Also included in the sale are a collection of parts I amassed for the restoration of this Fasty: Rearview mirrorNOS wiper arms and bladesRestored speedometer, gas gauge and working clockTunnel basketCustom shift knobTurn Signal leverEmergency brake bootPop-out latchesNew rear window panel (behind back seat/below rear window)and more! Negatives: The car shifted perfectly smooth until about two weeks ago when my mechanic in Portland, OR installed the new air bellow. He had to raise the engine a bit to get it to fit and since then, it can be difficult at times to shift it into first gear (you have to give it a good push). However, it does become easier once the car warms up. It may be a problem of lowering the engine to where it originally sat or checking the pressure plate to see if it's lining up correctly. Also, as mentioned before, the floorpan beneath the battery needs to be replaced. Overall, if you're looking for great restoration projection, a nice daily driver or simply something to cruise on the weekends, then this little red Fasty is for you! Any questions?
