The 1963 Buick Riviera was built the fourth week of October, 1962. It is an early Riviera with the 120 MPH speedometer, non-ribbed silver dash, and spare tire mounted on the trunk floor. The car presently has 133,898 miles…that’s an average of 2735 miles per year. The Riviera has matching numbers; the VIN number on the front of the engine by the push rod cover matches the VIN number in front of the windshield. The Riviera has always been a California car, and still has the 1963 issue California black license plates. The Riviera is equipped with many optional items. The car has the rare Automatic Headlamp Dimmer. The Dimmer will switch the headlamps to low beam upon an approaching cars’ headlights, then return the headlights to hi beam after the car has passed. Optional Front Cornering Lights illuminate front side lights when the directional signal switch is turned. Optional Tilt Steering Wheel and Power Radio Antenna are also included. The Deluxe Interior includes full length door armrest with door openers at the rear for back seat passengers. Optional Power Windows and Power Seats are included as well as Factory Air Conditioning. The exterior has a set of Riviera Chrome Road Wheels equipped with P235/75R15 white wall tires. The spare is a matching road wheel. Not all options work. The AC doesn’t blow cold air, the operation of the Headlamp Dimmer is questionable, and the Power Seat motor runs but the seat doesn’t move. All Power Windows go up and down except the passenger front. The Riviera is equipped with the 401 cubic inch, 325 Hp. high-compression Buick nail head engine with the Carter AFB carburetor fuel system, Dual Exhaust, vacuum assist Power Drum Brakes, Power Steering and Rear Wheel Drive. The engine starts right up, runs excellent, has plenty of power to spin the rear wheels, the Dynaflow transmission operates smoothly, and the large aluminum finned drum brakes provide quick, sure stops. The 1963 Buick Riviera is 100% complete and 100% original, even down to the stock transverse muffler with the resonators. However, the car is not perfect. The exterior chrome mouldings are very shiny and straight but the tail light housings are pitted and the rear bumper is rusty. The interior is complete, but shows it age and could be replaced. There is a rust hole in the driver’s floor about 6 inches in diameter and some rust holes on the trunk floor. Still, the car is very drivable as-is and looks very nice. The reserve price is very low and reflects the condition of the car. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a highly desirable first generation Riviera at a low price and "upgrade as you drive". All original, unmolested stock 49 year cars don't come up too often. This highly optioned 1963 Buick Riviera with the factory white exterior and black interior is a fine example of a desirable car built in a previous time when large muscle cars were king. The Riviera is located in the San Francisco area, has current California registration, and a clear title issued Oct. 1, 1986, in my name.
