1968 Deluxe Transporter – 7 Seat Model, Originally shipped to Boston but spent most of its life in the dry Nevada desert which is why it's so rust free. Super clean body with absolutely no rot anywhere. Original dealer installed undercoating in place still and small places where it has peeled off can be seen pristine un-touched metal. Most rust-free early bay I have seen. The Body was completely disassembled and plastic media blasted before painted and sound deadening material was placed on the floor, sides and top to make the inside quiet. I have photos of the bus prior to paint and prior to being put back together. 2165 Built by Damian at D&J Auto in Fountain Valley (94x78) – DPR Crank, Udo Becker Tool Steel Lifters, CB 044 Heads (ported and polished), Web cam 109 cam with 1.1 rockers, CB H-Beam Rods, Dual 44 Empi HPMX with deluxe linkage/intake manifolds, full flow oil system with external filter, Pertronix electronic ignition. Entire rotating assembly balanced by GBE. Every piece of engine tin was powdercoated and in place for proper cooling. Over $6k in the motor alone. Motor has less than 500 miles on it since built. I have full photo documentation of the motor build including receipts for all parts. Completely re-done interior – New custom headliner done by Octavio in Orange (looks absolutely mint), fully recovered front/middle/rear seats as well as all trim panels. Full carpet kit. Brand new Wolfsburg West seat belts for all seats. I have custom panels for behind the front seats as well but chose not to put them on as I like the look. Over 3k spent on the interior. All suspension completely re-done two years ago Including: Wagenswest 4” narrowed beam with new tie rods, draglink and ball joints. Wagenswest 2.5” dropped spindles Wagenswest 3.25” horseshoe plates on the rear. New rear springplate bushings. The bus is currently only mildly lowered but can be adjusted much lower if desired. All lowering was done professionally with no permanent modifications to the bus. Rebuilt 002 transmission back to stock specs. Very solid with no popping out of gear or slipping and new clutch/throw out bearing. Complete braking system replaced including new drums, pads, hard lines, hoses, German master cylinder and all wheel cylinders. New shocks all the way around – Boge up front and GR-2’s in the rear Every piece of window rubber, door rubber or trim was replaced. Bus is completely water tight, wipers work correctly with correct 68 only wiper blades. Front door chrome window trim/window scrapers/rubber all replaced and look mint. All electrical works except for inside dome light and the backup lights are not currently wired. VDO Tach in place where deluxe clock would normally be. VDO oil temp/pressure and voltmeter gauges also in place with custom mounting. Gas tank completely gone thru by a radiator shop and all vent lines and fuel lines replaced. The bus currently has 15” stock split rims on it (the white ones in the photos) but the original date matched 14” rims (the black ones in the photos – rims correctly dated 4/68) will go with the bus. Recently aligned and drives straight. The Huntington Beach license plate frame stays with me. The CA YOM plates stay with me if the bus is sold outside of California. Matching set of correct L-profile keys opens all doors/slider/rear hatch. I have receipts for almost everything that add up to a significant amount of money.
