Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a very nice original no rust 1974 914 2.0 low mileage collector car. These are extremely hard to come by in this condition and this one is being offered with a very reasonable reserve. This car has been in inside storage for the last 7-8 years in NC and was previously a California car. It still has the “blue plate” on front and the condition of a well maintained Cali car. I have owned this car for the past 4 years and I purchased it from the individual who brought from the west coast. The car appears to be very original except the steering wheel, outside mirror and the carpets have been replaced. I have the original steering wheel and mirror for the car and they are included in the sale. All the normal 914 rust areas appear to be intact and rust free on this car, the battery tray is nice, the hell hole is fully intact and the rockers, jack points, floors and pans are all unblemished. The only body flaw I have found is the trunk hinge pivot point on the driver’s side is starting to separate slightly and needs welding. The only other interior body flaw is there is some slight discoloration and paint damage around the left shock tower and brake fluid reservoir where brake fluid has spilled at some time. On the exterior the car has been refinished allover one time the original yellow color. The paint shows the normal nicks and chips of a car this age but it still has a very good luster and shine and shows that it has spent most of its life inside. The body has never been in any type of a collision and all the panels have very good fit and alignment. Mechanically the car starts and runs well, after such long periods of storage it probably could use a good old fashion tune up and run a couple of tanks of fresh gas thru it but it runs great with all the original fuel injection still in place. I have always treated the fuel with stabilizer as well and started the car, at minimum, every month. I try to keep a couple of gallons of fresh premium fuel on board and use a trickle charger as well. I have also done a recent oil change and have always used Brad Penn oil in it. Interior and trim on this car are in very good shape. The original saddle interior is in very good shape and was accented by a previous owner by trimming the seat bolsters in black to match the door top trim and dash. The dash itself has only a few very minor cracks and is in above average condition for 914 dashes. The carpets, as mentioned, have been replaced at some point by a quality replacement set that appears very much like the original items. The radio is a 80’s unit that works, connected to a new Hirschmann black antenna. The car is equipped with the original Porsche port installed A/C system and it is fully intact but does not function. The belt is on the compressor which turns freely and the under dash unit blower works but it appears to not hold freon. This car is also equipped with the very desirable Fuchs alloy wheels and almost new tries, nice chrome bumpers and a Dino leather sport steering wheel. I have recently replaced the main ($400) rubber seal between the roof and the windshield post / pillar. The seals on the roof that meet the top of the side widows and the ones on the targa bar leave a little something to be desired. That was on my to do list and I started with the most expensive seal first… I am not interested in giving this car away but I do have another collector Porsche that needs my TLC. I welcome pre purchase inspection and can assist in moving the car to meet your transportation but I can't deliver. I have a number of good pictures so please send me a note if you would like to see something else. I have a clear NC title and when my banker is satisfied you certified funds are good I will fed ex it out to you. If you have negative or no bid history don't waste your or my time. Thanks for looking!
