I had been scratching my head trying to scrape up a deal, until I typed in convertible in the local want ads. Right away an old Galaxie ragtop popped up in my neighborhood. As in across the street from the gas station I used to sweep up as a teen decades ago. Many moons later, this car turns up in a backyard parking lot. I hopped on my scooter and couldn't get there fast enough. I passed a bus by hopping on the sidewalk, a move that would cost me a pinch flat later. I was indeed first on the scene. What I surveyed is the following: The owners family had diligently tarped the Galaxie every year with a fresh tarp. We pulled the remnants of all the covers off and wasps started buzzing around. We drug the tarps and the wasps to the other side of the lot and called the Amigos to tow the Galaxie home. We got the top down fine after spraying the hinges in all the right places. I was happy to see the trunk was dry and as far as the interior, I've had worse. It fits in the medium bad category. The grill and trim were missing. A real tough break for the project. We've scoured up the headlights and some other pieces since. I will add a shot of the trunk shortly. It's clean with no holes. The engine looked promising but with no wires, hoses or belts the odds are questionable. With that in mind, I have a great start to putting your own spin on this car. The purists can go to hell in a handbag, you've saved this one from the brink. We will ship anywhere.
