I am selling this car for the owner (a retired airline pilot) who is close friend of mine. He is in his 70's and can't see that good anymore and has decided to sell it. Bob has owned this car for approximately 26 years. He told me that he is 2nd owner of this car. The 1st owner was a golf pro at a country club in Washington. He bought this car at a Barrett Jackson car auction and in 1989 received 2nd in the people's choice award in the Governor's Cup Race from Arizona to Las Vegas. The original owner had the engine and transmission completely overhauled at 30,000 miles. He had a new $1,000 set of tires put on about 2 years ago that are in great shape. He had it repainted and rechromed the bumpers about 3-5 years ago. This car still has the originial seatcovers on it. It even has the cardboard that hung from the rear view mirror from the factory informing of the national defense program chrome plating process. This is definitely rare to have survived and be with the original car. Now, for the not so good news. The rechroming was done in Tampa and didn't hold. It needs redone. The teeth in the grill are just fine but they forgot one tooth. The 3 chrome rings on each side of the front exterior needs attention and I would recommend that they be replaced. I am not a body guy, but the paint looks good but it has spots that need redone. Several 1/2 dollar size spots along the chrome especially on the passenger side. I haven't looked but when my wife was sweeping it, she pulled back the originial mats and said the drivers side floor board needs some attention. I didn't notice it when I drove it home and I weigh 250, but still wanted to tell you. I have all kinds of paperwork, 3 folders full of about everything you can think of. He took excellent care of his baby for many years. I am sure that it would not take much to make this car number 1 again. Because of his health issues, we have placed a low reserve.
