Vehicle Detail

For Sale: The Mighty Dodge1969 Dodge Dart Custom A-Body 4-Door Sedan Nicknamed, "The Mighty Dodge" by several independent observers, this piece of American automobile history is being grudgingly sold after a ten-year pitched battle by its second owner in order to get her husband off her back. (He's hated this car from day one.) She's not bitter about it at all. Originally purchased by her grandmother on February 21st, 1969 (she has the original bill of sale from Hollywood Dodge, which no longer stands, and for the record, she doesn't normally refer to herself in the third person), The Mighty Dodge was built at the Dodge plant in Van Nuys, California. It has been either in a carport or a garage for nearly its entire existence, and has only lived in Los Angeles and Folsom, California, away from the ocean and snow. She even retains her original, California license plate. Over the years, both the engine and transmission have been rebuilt, and the seats were re-upholstered in new old stock, with the original color and pattern. The trunk liner was replaced with an after-market reproduction to match the original pattern, as was the windshield wiper reservoir. The neutral safety switch was recently replaced. Even the floater unit in the gas tank has been replaced. Both the current owner and her grandmother made sure regular oil changes and maintenance were performed on this vehicle throughout its lifetime. This vehicle has never been in a major collision and the body is straight and true. Just as a side note, The Mighty Dodge was never equipped with air conditioning. It has the box vents under the dash and the wind wings. This car starts right up and is running just fine. The tires have relatively little wear on them. To belabor the obvious, The Mighty Dodge is 43 years old and has a few "little old lady" flaws. The transmission has a leak that I haven't had the time to investigate. It could be as simple as a gasket that needs tightening, but it might not be. She still has her original, factory paint, which is worn and chipped in some places--she has some door dings. As you can see by the pictures she has a small dent in the driver's side front fender, the result of some moron backing into her as she was parked in Hollywood. (Shockingly, there was no note left...) The original AM radio has a short in it and doesn't work. The sun visors need repair or replacement and the dash board is cracked and worn in places. I never found the right color match to the carpet, and it should eventually be replaced. She has a small amount of rust in the trunk, but nothing major. As I had intended to fully restore this vehicle, there are some extras that will go with her to her new owner:A copy of the original shop manual, plus a Chilton's repair bookThe original two pamphlets that the Dodge dealer included with the car, listing maintenance requirements and all statsMatching dash cap, which I never got around to installingComplete set of 1969 Dodge Dart hubcapsSeveral after-market, reproduction stickers for the air filter and other thingsThe Mighty Dodge is currently registered and insured and gets driven at least once a week. This is still a great vehicle and would be a wonderful car to drive and teach your kids how to work on. It truly doesn't get much simpler than the slant six engine! You are more than welcome to have a mechanic of your choice inspect the Mighty Dodge. In fact, I recommend it! Purchaser is responsible for vehicle pickup/shipping. Car is sold in "as is" condition and by bidding on/purchasing this vehicle, purchaser accepts these terms.
