Vehicle Detail
A 1957 Chevrolet Nomad 2 door station wagon. This project car needs a complete restoration, and is a significant undertaking. However, the trim tag and VIN tag are still attached to the car. Trim tag is on firewall behind distributor, and is still attached with original rivets. VIN tag is still in original location, but one of the spot welds has broken loose. The VIN is VC57A143526. The trim tag info is as follows: Style: 57-1064DF Body No.: CL 2777 Trim: 692 (Black and Dark Green cloth, medium green imitation leather) Paint: 813D (Upper body India Ivory, Lower Body Surf Green) Car is an original V8, Powerglide with tredle-vac power brakes. The non-original engine currently in the car appears to be a 1964 vintage 283 2 bbl. The engine pad is blank. Transmission and driveshaft are in car. Cars rolls but has no brakes, etc. Towing with a two wheel dolly is not recommended. The car does not have a title (Alabama doesn’t title car this old). Buyer will get a notarized bill of sale. The body is rusty, and the car will need significant floor, lower exterior panels, tailgate, and drip rail repair. The frame appears to be solid (it was undercoated) but the rear cross member is bent, and has a trailer hitch welded to it. This car has been in open storage since about 1976. One window has the remains of a sticker from the 1964 NHRA drag race event in Indianapolis. The glass is still in the car, and most of the side stainless trim is still with the car. The Nomad chrome bars are still on the tailgate, but will need re-chroming. The Nomad script emblem was removed at some time in the past. The tailgate, tailgate window, both doors, and the hood all open fine, and the dash is complete. The front seat is not bolted down. Some additional parts (pictured inside) are included. Five 1957 14 inch hubcaps also come with car. No additional parts not pictured are available for this car. The car is currently rolling around on an old set of tires and wheels, but the tires and wheels are NOT included with the auction. Buyer will need to bringa set of wheels and tires to move the car. Car can be loaded onto a trailer using the existing wheels and tires, but these wheels and tires will need to be removed (they are our roll-around set, and needed for other cars). Car is located in North Alabama (Huntsville area) and can be inspected during the auction period BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Most times will have to be weekdays after 5 pm, or anytime on weekends. More photos can be seen at the photobucket location: http://s296.photobucket.com/albums/mm198/emccomas/1957%20Nomad/ A $250 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of auction ending. The car must be paid for and picked up within 7 days of auction ending, unless prior arrangements have been made. This is a no reserve auction, and the highest bidder will be buying the car. Feel free to ask questions: I will get them answered as quickly as possible. The auction will not be ended early, and there is no Buy It Now price. This car is sold as is, with no warranty, expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges, and making arrangements to get the car shipped. Remember, buyer must also provide a set of wheels and tires for the car (bolt pattern is 5 on 4 ½ inches). The roll-around wheels and tires that are currently on the car DO NOT go with the car. On Sep-18-12 at 11:50:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Wheel bolt pattern is 5 x 4 3/4 inches (not 5 x 4 1/2 inches). Hubs and axles are stock 1957 Chevrolet. Sorry for the confusion. On Sep-22-12 at 18:16:23 PDT, seller added the following information: A number of people have asked about supplying wheels and tires so this vehicle can be shipped. It is difficult to put together a set of roll around wheels and tires. The roll around wheels and tires that are currently on the car cost $150. The winning bidder can choose to buy these roll around wheels and tires for an additional $150 above the winning bid price. I reaaly do prefer that you bring your own wheels and tires, but this will resolve the issue for those bidders that cannot.
