This is the CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM that you have REALLY been searching for. It has 68,429 careful original miles on it. If you are checking out this auction then undoubtedly you are quite interested in the last 3 year run (1994-1996) of the incredible Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. Before I get into the specifics about this particular Fleetwood Brougham let me give you some background on the Fleetwood in general and offer the following advice. This is my fourth Fleetwood Brougham dating back to 1995. They are fantastic vehicles, incredible running machines. Nothing beats the venerable LT1 Corvette motor that was installed in the Fleetwoods, The Chevrolet Impala SS, Caprice and The Buick Roadmaster. All of the aforementioned cars were made with the LT1 from 1994 until 1996. The Fleetwood is probably the best big CADILLAC ever produced. It's quite simply a car that will never come again. It's the last of the dinosaurs, the last of the big GM land yachts, if you want to put it that way. The B and D body cars of this vintage were built in Arlington Texas and this style of Fleetwood ran from 93-96. All three lines of rear wheel drive cars with the LT1 engine were made in this one GM plant from 1994-1996. The cars coming out of Arlington were well known to be amongst the finest quality big cars ever produced by GM. Production ceased on the Fleetwood’s and all other rear wheel drive GM vehicles in 1996 in favor of SUV’s like the Tahoe, Suburban and eventually the Escalade which is now built in Arlington. The D body is the Brougham, it is actually a longer car than the B body Caprice/Roadmaster/Impala, thus it has its own chassis, but as a whole 99% the same things using the LT1 Corvette Engine, the 4L60 Trans and the large 8.5 Diff. Only the 1994‘s to 1996 model years had the LT1 power plant and are the most desirable to own of this body style, The LT1 is a great and powerful engine that puts these cars in a performance category that most people did not know they were actually capable of. It came with a high quality stainless steel dual exhaust system, optional oil & transmission cooling systems (which this car has) and many things that were carried over from the 9C1 Caprice police platform. These items help to extend the service life well beyond what any Cadillac in the past had done. The LT1 Fleetwood gets about 25MPG on the highway and 17MPG in the city. Time has proven that the iron head LT1 engines used in these cars are more durable than the alloy heads used in the Corvette LT1’s. But my advice is not about the LT1 its about the one option that really makes this car.
The options on this particular car are plentiful and that one option is the RARE TOW PACKAGE OPTION Rpo "V4P". This is where my advice becomes crucial for you the potential new buyer of ANY Fleetwood Brougham made from 1994-1996. The Tow package option "V4P" is what transforms the Fleetwood into the the Greatest Big American Car ever produced by GM or anyone else. With the tow package option on the car you get the upgraded rpo "FE2" suspension Ride & Handling system. The combination of Rpo "V4P & FE2" are vastly superior to the very soft water bed like ride found on the most of the Fleetwoods that were equipped with the standard "FE1" soft ride. The rarity of a Fleetwood Brougham with the tow package option has made these cars have a significant higher value and they seem to be apreciating in value a lot more then the standard Fleetwoods that seem to be out there in much greater numbers. I have had two Fleetwoods with the "soft ride" and two with the "V4P" option and in terms of handling & ride characteristics there is no comparison. The only way to own and drive these cars is with the "V4P" option. The handling and the ride is superior. Minimal bounce and very little of the typical Cadillac "FE1" floating water bed ride. Hit the gas and the Lt1 roars to life and with the optional 3.42 rear axle the Big Fleetwod is moving down the road like a scalded ape. In 1994 Cadillac produced a total of 27,473 Fleetwoods of which only 713 were equipped with the "V4P" tow package option (less then 3% of total production for 1994) The soft ride Fleetwood was made for the 80+ year old buyer who liked the floating feeling of these cars. Now here is more info on this car: it is in UNBELIEVABLE CONDITION with only 68,429 ORIGINAL MILES. The exterior shines like a new car and the interior is like a new car. It still smells new as well. There are no cracks in the dash, no carpet stains, no holes in the seats. No rust either. NEVER SMOKED IN. Everythings works as it should except the cd player. It has the Rare "V4P" Tow option as stated before. It is California car, Meticulously maintained at the Cadillac dealer (Guy Hill in San Diego) where it was purchased in 1994.
