Vehicle Detail
A Collectors Dream Car and a Green Mean Racing Machine! 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, Motor Trends Car of the Year in 1969! Not very often do you find a car like this one! The original owner had this car sitting in her garage for over 20 years! No guesswork on where it came or its history! The young lady at 19 years of age bought the car brand new, and kept it until I purchased it in 2008. This Road Runner is equipped with the 383 HP V-8 engine and automatic transmission. Engine is totally original and we do know that AAMCO replaced the transmission back in 1978 when the car had 72.503 miles on it. (Sorry, the transmission warranty has expired! :) ) That means that there is less then 8000 miles on the transmission. (Receipt and Warranty booklet come with the car). Because of the length of time the car had been sitting, we had to replace all the brakes (manual, no power) and the entire gas line system including gas tank, sending unit, fuel pump, and most lines. The carb was rebuilt at Timberline Dodge. The engine is as it came out of the factory, with nothing added to make it look "pretty". The entire exhaust system had to be replaced as well as the wheels and tires. The wheels and tires are less then a year old, and have about 500 miles on them. The car is equipped with the very license plate that it got when it was purchased, and on one plate, we were able to peel back the numerous tag year stickers right back to the very first 69 tag! The frame holder is the original holder from a long defunct Plymouth dealer. The upholstery was in bad shape and we had the front seat entirely redone. The rear seat still needs to be redone. The carpet is worn as per its age, but not shockingly so, and is usable for a time yet. There are 3 build sheets that were found in the car and the original warranty book and owners manual are included in the sale. This RR has shoulder harness and seat belts.Because of the 20 years sitting, the body had also gotten worn out looking, and some bumps and bruises of 20 years of things being moved around it are still there. We did do some basic bodywork to it when we first got it, and had the outside repainted at Timberline Dodge for appearance. This is not to say this is a "restored" paint job, but is certainly far and away from those "quickie" paint shops. Because we knew that the car should be totally stripped and repainted, we never put the rear side marker lights back on it nor did we replace the decals. A new set of decals come with the car for the outside body, and the original side marker lights do as well. This car is DRIVABLE and Looks GREAT as it is right now! There is no need to hide your head when driving it, and people stop to look at it whenever I take it somewhere! Yes, it needs work, but isn't that half the fun of owning a classic??
