Vehicle Detail
This is a 1955 Dodge Royal 4 door sedan. It has a Chrysler 270 CID polysphere motor. The motor runs perfectly, and is EXTREMELY quiet. This car has 49,020 actual miles and the motor is the original motor to the car. The drive train, motor, transmission and rear-end are all original, and in good working condition. It has a stainless steel exhaust, and the car is also completely undercoated. This has been parked and not driven for the last 4 years. Because of sitting, the master cylinder is not working, and consequently there are no functioning brakes. I think that the reason for this is a broken line, as it worked perfectly when it was parked 4 years ago, but you will definately want to make this a priority to verify. The exterior is black and white, as well as the interior. Please note...the hood had flown up and scratched some of the white paint on the exterior body, and touch-ups were done with white spray paint. However, the touchups have faded differently and consequently the white on the exterior body does need repainted. This is visible in the photos of the front end of the car; you can see the discoloration on the white paint. The car has all new black and white upholstery inside which was professionally done, with the exception of the trunk compartment, which was not. Everything in/on the car is in good working condition. The only exceptions are no brakes, (master cylinder) the gas tank has a small leak, and the transmission is leaking, as well as there is no radio. It's not broke, it's just not there! This car is the royal model, not the royal custom and it does not have power steering or power brakes. It has been converted to 12 Volt. This car was a 2 1/2 year restoration project for my grandfather which he began once he retired. This was completed approximately 17 years ago. Since the restoration, the car has been parked in the garage and drove very little, except an occasional parade. The restoration was photo documented and that photo album goes with the car to the buyer. This car has been parked and not driven at all for the last 4 years. Prior to parking, the master cylinder, the gas tank and transmission were all in perfect working order. All of the leaks have started recently...since the car has been parked and unused. This belongs to my grandfather, and he is now approaching 80 years old, and he is no longer able/willing to give this car the time and attention that it requires. I believe all 3 problems to be due to lack of use, but due to my grandfather's age, it will be sold on an as-is basis. He is eager to tell you the (long-winded) story of his restoration project and to see this car go to somebody that will love it as much as he has. For somebody looking for a restoration project that requires very little work, this is the car for you. The body/frame is rock solid and it really is a diamond in the rough....just needs a little "polishing" to restore her to her former glory. The car has a clear title, with antique plates and antique registration. (No inspection, because not necessary for antique plates/registrations.)
