Vehicle Detail

1948 Dodge Pilothouse B-1-C-118 tall bed (3/4 ton). Runs and drives but has been sitting for a while and only started/driven occasionally. Has been in the family for over 30 years. Was my Dad’s truck and was going to be my project truck but I’m not getting around to working on it, so it is time for someone else to have some fun with it. Less than 6,000 miles on an engine overhaul, but that 6,000 miles was many years ago. Engine number T142-24606. Three speed floor shift. Shifts well except it will occasionally pop out of second under too much throttle. Front brakes and fuel pump less than 2 years old. My dad had replaced the brake lines and hoses a while ago, they still look good. Original 6 volt positive ground system was rewired completely less than 3 years ago, including under the dash, except for front lighting connectors forward. Former northern NJ truck and outside storage as long as we’ve had it, so it does have its share of rust, including rusty fenders, door bottoms, cab floor, etc with pin holes, missing areas, etc. Various patches from my Dad and prior owner(s) are in place. Oak bed in good shape with Stainless bed runners and tailgate chains. Gas tank was removed and professionally rebuilt – no leaks. Gauges all work except gas gauge reads lower than actual. Heater works, and has the fresh air system. Vacuum wipers kind of worked last time I tried them. Cowl vent was disassembled leaned and rebuilt approx 2 years ago with new seal. Has all of its trim, and a cool, very heavy-duty brush guard with a “D” built into it. Tires are very old bias ply, still hold air but should be replaced. Exhaust has a patch on it and should be all or partially replaced. Many spare parts (used unless noted) including: radiator, carburetor, intake & exhaust manifold (with fasteners), full set of springs w/shackles, two wheels, starter, generator, fuel pump, distributor, front crossmember radiator support bracket, front fender inner mounts, gauge cluster parts, carb linkage, new tie rod, new freeze plugs, two new oil filter cartridges, probably some other things. Includes all the manuals and literature I have on hand. Can be started, could drive locally assuming the fuel system isn’t gummed up from sitting (though I use Sta-Bil in the fuel, I’ve had that problem before). Would definitely drive onto a trailer. Truck is sold as-is, sale is final with no refunds, and Buyer to pick up. Please e-mail me with questions, and thanks for looking!
