Vehicle Detail
This is a very good condition, well maintained 2003 Yukon XL 2500 (3/4 ton) SLT with the rare, powerful Vortec 8.1 liter V8 engine. I bought this truck new in late 2002. It had a sticker price of about $52,000 at that time, and I paid about $48,000. This truck is fully loaded. Factory options include:Vortec V8 8.1 liter engine (340HP / 455 lb-ft torque)Towing package (10,000lb towing capacity, heavy-duty oil cooler, transmission temp gauge)4 wheel drive with "Auto" select (lets you run in 2WD but automatically engages 4WD if a wheel slips)37.5 gallon fuel tank gives over 450 mile range at highway speeds (I get right at 13mpg on the highway at 65-70mph)Leather interiorPower front seats with dual memory driver's seat (activated by key fob or button on door)Heated front seatsPower-extending towing mirrorsSunroofCargo net, retracting cargo cover, cargo area carpet matAutoride suspension (automatically adjusts rear suspension to accommodate cargo or towing weight)3-zone air conditioning & heat (driver, passenger, and rear zones)Bose premium sound systemIn addition to the above factory options, this truck has:Tekonsha Prodigy proportional trailer brake controllerChrome grille/brush guardPIAA 550 driving lights with chrome grillesPhysically and mechanically, the truck is in excellent condition. Tires are all very good (see pictures). The truck has been maintained by GMC dealers and when they have found problems, I have had them fixed. The only mechanical issue is that "sometimes" (maybe 20% of the time) the speedometer will start reading way high, like 110mph when going 45. It does not affect the odometer, mileage shown in the listing and the photo are accurate. It has had one major repair, I hit a deer about 5 years ago that resulted in a new hood, radiator, and grille - the airbags did not deploy and the repairs were done at a GM body shop. Cosmetically it's very good - the exterior is an 8/10 with good paint, good chrome, good glass. It's a very sharp looking truck and gets compliments all the time. The front bottom skirt was removed because it interfered with a tow kit I used to have to pull this behind my motorhome but no one notices the loss. The interior is also about 8/10, there is one small tear in the driver's seat leather (see pictures, it's one of the last ones) and the carpeting could use a good steam cleaning. One of the rear seat floormats is missing, and the front floor mats are worn but serviceable. If you're looking for a vehicle to tow a trailer, this is a GREAT choice. I used to tow a 10,000lb cargo trailer on occasion, and even in the Ozarks and Appalachian mountains the 8.1 liter motor produces PLENTY of power and torque, even when we had 6 big guys in the truck along with a bunch of gear. If you want to carry a lot of people, this is a terrific truck for that too. It seats 7 adults easily (actually seats 8 but three across the rear seat is a little snug). The rear zone automatic climate control can be activated by the driver with overhead controls, or you can give the control to the 2nd row passengers and they can set their own temp/fan settings on a digital panel on the back of the front seat center console. If you want to carry a lot of "Stuff", no problem! The third seat folds down and flips forward to give more than 4 feet of cargo space in the back - or you can remove the third seat altogether for another foot of space - plus you can even fold down the 2nd row to give you 8 full feet of cargo space, fully 4 feet wide and 3 feet tall (that's nearly 100 cubic feet of cargo space!) The 3/4 ton suspension means you can really load it down too, with over 2,600 pounds of hauling capacity inside the truck (gross weight 8,600 lb, empty weight 5,980 lb) Kelly Blue Book values this truck between $8,740 and $9,015 (the "Good" & "Very Good" values). Based on the CARFAX report, they say to add an additional $240 to the market price based on its service history, so this truck is valued at a very solid $9,000 or more. This auction has NO RESERVE PRICE and is starting well below book value! The Kelly Blue Book and CARFAX reports can be downloaded here: Dropbox Link The truck is available for inspection in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. If you'd like to arrange for a third-party mechanic to inspect it (e.g. CarChex) I'm happy to cooperate with that.On Sep-05-12 at 13:30:58 PDT, seller added the following information: New info 9/5/2012 - a friend read the auction & is familiar with the speedo issue mentioned, he said it's a simple fix by replacing the "stepper motor" on the instrument cluster. Amazon has the stepper motors for less than $10.00 delivered for a DIY job, or you can send the cluster to "Dr Speedometer" and have it refurbed for <$200 (includes shipping both ways). Wish I'd known about this sooner, I'd have fixed it long ago :)
