Here's one for you vintage Japanese automobile enthusiasts. This is a nice roadster you can restore while you drive. I was hunting around high & low one day when I spied this classic roadster laying dormant in a carport. I left a note with a kind family member & was rewarded with an almost immediate call back. A friendly fellow was on the other line & was game to part paths with the car you see here. I made an appointment to see the datsun and a quick deal was struck. He had a babe in arms and made no bones about it that his priorities had changed.I called the Latinos to tow home my prize & quickly removed the gas tank to have it boiled out & re-lined at the professionals. Once that had been done I re-installed it and the old car grumbled, then roared to life. The previous owner had mentioned he was on a quest to get some more pep out of the black roadster & had swapped in a 2 liter engine in place of the 1600. At this time he had also installed a header to give it a freer breathing exhaust system. The header had cracked & now needs to be re-welded or replaced. It does crackle quite loudly. I like that. My neighbors don't.This was the last straw that placed the datsun into retirement from active duty. The man made it very clear. After all of his efforts the buzzing exhaust was a buzz-kill. He also felt the last valve adjustment was performed incorrectly. He told me it never had the same giddy-up & it was most likely because the guys had done an adjustment for a 1600, not a 2 liter.The car also has some cushy aftermarket seats & racing harnesses. They are in nice shape. The seats have no adjustability & are for a five foot five height fellow (or female!).This is not good for me. I'm looking at my knees after clambering into the little car. The black paint is good in patches & not so good in others. I imagine you will get more compliments at night. Black roadsters look great on a hot night! Ha. The original color is robins egg blue. There is no softop.The car starts on one click of the key & the engine doesn't smoke. The brakes are low which shouldn't be surprising after a dozen years in the carport. The tires hold air & the rust is very minimal. It has no rotten spots.Well I can't say much more as I'm off for some sushi. What I will say is that these little cars have a lot of charm & it shouldn't be hard to get a date with the sweetheart of your liking.These cars are getting pricey & my auto correct doesn't recognize Datsun as a part of the language. Do you?
