Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, which has been converted into the famous "Knight Industries Two Thousand" or better know as K.I.T.T. from the TV series Knight Rider. This car gets tons of attention wherever it goes, and would make a great, affordable addition to any classic car collection, or just take it out and enjoy! The previous owner used the car extensively for cruise nights, and charity events. The black paint looks good, and has a ton of shine. The Knight Rider conversion parts give the car a very distinct look, and really set it apart. The scanner in the front functions and scans. The dash lights up, and makes all the correct sounds. It also has the overhead roof console, which lights up when turned on. The car has the correct 15" turbo cast wheels, with bowling ball hubcaps. The car also has lambo doors with shaved door handles. I'm not crazy about them personally, but they were well done, and really give the car an over-the-top appearance. They can also be opened normally, you don't have to use the lambo feature. The car looks and drives great, but could use some details to bring it to the next level. It needs the correct gullwing steering wheel. All of the Knight Rider electronics work, but it really needs to have the wiring cleaned up a bit. Nothing major, but a weekend's worth of work would get everything tidy and in order. It also needs one gas strut on the passenger door, which keeps it up in the lambo position. If you use the doors normally, it's not an issue. While the paint is shiney and looks good, it's not a show winning paint job. Minor cracks in the paint on the hood, and front bumper, and a few bubbles in the paint up at the t-top. The driver's side fender bottom needs to be aligned better. If you want to keep it as a driver, it's just fine. If you want it to be show winning, it would need to be repainted. Seats are in nice shape, carpet is original and not bad. Driver's side kick panel is missing. I probably made the car sound worse than it is, but I have a good reputation of thoroughly disclosing a car's faults. The pictures are a very accurate representation, bid based on what you see in the photos and video. The engine really makes this KITT different from others out there. Originally equipped with the anemic 305 cross-fire injection, it now sports a 305 HP, 5.7L LS-1 out of a 1999 Trans Am. The conversion is well done, and the car flies! The LS-1 conversion was done about 5 years ago. The engine had 29k miles on it at the time, and has since had about 30k additional miles put on it. It's a very tried and true conversion. Not something that was just done, with no miles, and lots of bugs. The car has driven plenty of miles since the conversion was done, and drives as though it was born that way. Has a nice, original-style exhaust. Has dual catalytic converters, and a rear flow master muffler. It looks and sounds like it was born in there. The previous owner drove the car on many long distance trips, without issue. 4L60E auto trans also came out of the 99 Trans Am donor car. Rear end is out of a 1989 Trans Am GTA with rear disc brakes. Please keep in mind, although this is a nice car, it's 30 years old, and has MANY modifications. You are buying a car that will require you to have some mechanical ability to own and maintain. This is a fun car for special events, it's not a daily driver. That's not to say it couldn't be, but please don't expect perfection. The reserve is very realistic, and reflects such. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Chad anytime. 661-268-1500, or 661-212-2026. I am more than willing to answer any questions you may have, and spend any amount of time on the phone to make sure you understand what you are buying. I also reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Call if you'd like to make an offer, and I may end the auction early. International bidders- I will deliver the car for a small fee to the shipper of your choice. Domestic bidders, it is your responsibility to arrange and pay for shipping.
