Vehicle Detail
A rare find in the Volvo 122S world. ALL ORIGINAL SURVIVOR FROM 1967. Original interior with only the dash pad crack to show for the past 45 years. The paint is also original with only traces of a past touch-up on a door and one rear fender; a few chips in the paint on the passenger door and a few chips in the very front from driving (no dents or scratches to the metal--only chips in the paint itself). NO ACCIDENTS, and RUST FREE THROUGHOUT. The original B18 engine starts, idles, and runs like it was new. No smoking or leaks; and the transmission functions flawlessly. New clutch and pressure plate were installed when I bought it about six years ago. I have a a whole box or two of books, catalogs, spare parts that will accompany the car to the new owner. Key fob/dealer stock # on the keys, AM radio manual, Volvo dealer directory, warranty book, and operator's manual are all present and original to the car! Tires are vintage but FREE of any deterioration or dry-rotting and have 90% tread left. I have included several angles in the photos to show how clean this 122 has remained. I bought it from the second owner after spending its life in dry-climated Oregon without a spot of rust anywhere, and thus it has remained. You won't find a nicer all original 122S for sale. I'm only selling it because I am loosing my storage. It has been driven carefully, never in the rain, and stored in a climate-controlled aircraft hangar the entire time I've owned it. New battery as of 08/19/12. All lights, window cranks, windshield wipers, rear glass pop-out vents, seat adjustments, rear arm-rest, horn, factory AM radio, cigarette lighter, two-speed fan & heater...it all works! Please email for additional photos. This is a rare find indeed. On Aug-20-12 at 16:09:00 PDT, seller added the following information:NOTE: I just found the boxes that contain books, manuals, and older magazines (IPD, etc.) but most importantly....tucked away into a large file were complete receipts from the work done since NEW. Receipts for work done (tune-ups, oil changes, etc.) that date from 1967! This is exactly the kind of provenance needed for such a car. So far the parts I have found which are inlcuded are: a replacement dash pad (non-Volvo); left turn signal seal (part#666775); large sealing strip (part# 673318) which looks like either a trunk lid or hood seal--both are factory wrapped and genuine Volvo parts; and one Volvo hubcap. I will continue to look for more parts/manuals/records and will post any further discoveries. I will also email a few photos showing the receipts from 1967 for interested parties. On Aug-23-12 at 17:45:32 PDT, seller added the following information:I just received an email about the originality of the paint. I have already addressed this in detail in the body of the description, but in the interest of completeness, let me state it again. The paint on the car has been--over the past 45 yrs--had a few touch-ups. This is expected on a car of this age and drivability. These were not accidents, and were done long ago. You can see evidence of these touch-ups upon close inspection of the rubber seals in these areas (which carry a touch of overspray). This does NOT detract from the value, collectability, or appearance; and the remainder of the paint is original. I have many photos that I would be happy to email upon request. Thank you to the many polite bidders who have called me asking pertinent questions. Happy bidding! On Aug-27-12 at 19:01:40 PDT, seller added the following information:I just had a good question regarding the glass. The glass still has the VOLVO logo that's usually located at one of the lower corners of the glass. All Volvo, all original. I should have made this point in the description as well, but it never occured to me. So, the glass is factory Volvo; and I can email photos if you wish.
