simonshi1118 Store Normal.dotm 0 0 1 1012 5769 Hartmann Farms 48 11 7084 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Hello eBay: Up for sale today is my 1988 Mazda Rx-7 Turbo II 10th Anniversary Edition. I purchased the car four years ago with the intent of keeping it for a lifetime as a perfect real world rendition of Ryosuke Takahashi’s RedSuns FC3S, but unfortunately I have to move overseas very soon and I cannot take the car with me. Over the four years I have owned it, I have spent over $13,000 making it the best handling, stopping, driving, and looking Rx-7 today. I have kept every receipt for the improvements I have made. A vast majority of the performance parts were purchased from and installed by Motorsport Dynamics in Hayward, CA, with the occasional other shop doing general maintenance and repair. Much of the factory documentation has been kept with the car, including the original 10th anniversary leather manual case, care packets and even owner card, which has the female original owner’s name on it. The car has been kept in the San Francisco Bay Area for most if not all of its life, and has always been meticulously maintained with many of the receipts to show it. Below are some of the extensive improvements I have made to the car, and the known problems that come with owning a car of this vintage. The car has a clean CA title in my name. Engine: When I bought the car, the engine had just underwent a full rebuild by a shop in the Los Angeles area at approximately 157,000 miles, costing north of one thousand dollars. With this rebuild not only came a refreshed engine, but a new 1991 style turbo, catalytic converter, and O2 sensor. Ever since the purchase of the vehicle, the car has been serviced with only Royal Purple 10w-40 oil every 2500-3000 miles. Only 91 octane gasoline has been used in this car, never any less. Recently, the alternator was rebuilt and a new battery purchased in an attempt to solve the charging problem (see below). This car has many accessories to help protect the engine from detonation or overboost, such as a turbo timer, and an HKS Sequential Blow Off Valve. I still have the stock BOV if you wish to install it instead. Shortly after, I also had and HKS Twin Power Rotary ignition installed to better handle the boost. The car has an HKS Silent power exhaust (not very silent) installed. It is cooled by a Koyo radiator, with carbon fiber ducting to assist in directing airflow to it. The thermostat and gasket were also replaced soon after. An HKS Powerflow filter with the green element was installed to further encourage airflow and slightly better throttle response. Drivetrain: The car has the factory transmission, albeit with a short throw shifter that was installed by the previous owner, making the shift engagement very positive and firm, with throw shorter than I have ever seen. It has a Razo shift knob, which both looks and functions well with the current setup. The car has a Kaaz 1.5 way Limited Slip Differential, which was professionally installed by Rearend Specialties in Santa Clara, CA. If you want to go for a more street friendly approach, the original LSD will be included with the sale. Suspension/Steering/Brakes: No expense was spared while crafting the ultimate suspension setup for this car. It has Tein Flex Coilovers on all 4 corners, with the high tech Tein EDFC system installed to control damping from within the race-inspired interior. A Tanabe strut tower brace was installed to stiffen the chassis and prevent flex. The car has a Sparco Monza Steering Wheel, which is blue anodized with black trim. This wheel is mated to the car through an NRG Short hub with quick release. For brakes, the car does have the stock calipers front and rear, with Hawk high performance brake pads all around to aid in stopping performance. The car handles like it is on rails, and never skips a beat when cornering at above average speeds. Interior: Under my ownership, the interior has received a full facelift, turning what was a mundane stock interior into what it is now, a race-inspired surrounding that you can feel secure in at high speeds. Within the car are two black Bride Low Max seats, known for their legendary holding capabilities. Fastening you to the seat is a 3” Sparco cam-lock harness (made by Sabelt) attached to an NRG harness bar. The E-brake handle has been replaced with a MOMO unit, and has a MOMO e-brake boot to match. It has Sparco pedal covers to match the harness and steering wheel. The previous owner installed a white face gauge panel, as well as carbon fiber gauge surrounds as well as an aftermarket boost gauge mounted on the A pillar. Body: Since this car has lived in California most (if not all) of its life, there is not a spot of rust on the entire car. No dents are present, and the car was painted within the past 2 years or so. I would recommend a good cut and buff for the paint to achieve maximum shine and quality. The car has an aftermarket body kit, which I assume to be an Origin replica. The passenger side headlight has been replaced with one that has a scoop for a higher amount of airflow to the HKS Powerflow filter. Factory installed aero mirrors, spoiler and S5 taillights complete the look of the car on the exterior. The car has many decals that are similar to Ryosuke Takahashi’s RedSuns car, like the sponsor decals on the door and famous RedSuns decal on the rear quarter panels. At this time, Hella 550 fog lights were also added to help the car look like the RedSuns vehicle the car was modeled after. Misc: The car has many miscellaneous upgrades; such as Razo silver windshield wipers, and recent tires on the Racing Hart replica wheels. KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE CAR: Even though the car is near perfect in many ways, It does have some issues that come with the age of the vehicle. For one, there is a small current drain in the wiring harness: I suspect the culprit of this to be the aftermarket alarm system that was installed. A new battery and alternator were installed to assist in diagnosing the problem, and stay present in the car. Secondly, the car cuts out and almost stalls when warming up. Some cursory research was done, and it was found that this could be remedied by just setting the TPS to 1,000 rpm. I would do it, but at this moment I do not have the time. The A/C is currently not functional, but I suspect that it only needs a charge to be functional again. Lastly, the car will not pass smog in CA, which I suspect is the catalytic converter due to it being 24 years old. Due to the lack of smog certification, the car has CA non-operational registration, and will be sold on a title transfer along with a bill of sale. It is not currently street legal due to the non-op. Other than those minor issues, the car runs like a champ, stops on a dime, and handles like a dream. I really love this car, and am only selling it due to the fact that I am leaving the country. The car is sold as-is, and the buyer will have to figure out transportation to their home or shop. I can assist with loading the car.Feel free to ask any questions. Photos: Some of the many receipts for the immense amounts of money spent on this car: On Aug-11-12 at 20:22:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Upon further review of the reciepts, I have seen that the engine rebuild actually cost over Three Thousand dollars, and included a new clutch. Thanks!
