Vehicle Detail
The 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado was built the second week of February, 1966. My father purchased the car used in the San Francisco Area on November 19, 1977, with 84,330 miles. The car presently has 89,159 miles...that's an average of 2,000 miles per year. Registrations are included from 1972 to present. The Toronado was always garaged and never taken out in the rain. It was repainted in the original Riviera Plum, a deep maroon color, upon purchase. The car is very presentable with no dents, dings, scrapes, and certainly no rust. The chrome and stainless exterior trim are in excellent condition. The interior has the original maroon bench vinyl with fabric insert seats that are in very good condition, although there is very minor sun cracking on the front seat backrest by the door windows. The dash pad and chromium instrument cluster and steering wheel are superb. Door panels and the headliner are perfect. The 1966 Toronado was the first American front wheel drive vehicle since the Cord of the late thirties. The 1966 Toronado front wheel drive system was used for twenty years in the 1967-1985 Cadillac Eldorado and the 1979-1985 Buick Riviera as well as the Toronado through 1985. The Oldsmobile designed front wheel drive system was so rugged it was used in large motor homes for years. Motor Trend's 1966 Car Of The Year was the 1966 Olds Toronado. And, everyone knows about Jay Leno's '66 Toronado. Today the 1966 Olds Toronado is the most desirable collector Toronado. The Toronado is equipped with many optional items. The car has the rare Automatic Climate Control. When set to maximum heat (85 degrees) hot air blows from the floor and when set to maximum cold (65 degrees) cold air blows from the dash vents. Due to the San Francisco climate at 55 degrees, the AC could not be verified, although the compressor was running. The original Olds signal seeking radio receives both AM and FM and doesn't work, although the optional power antenna works great. The deluxe interior includes full length door armrest with door openers at the rear for back seat passengers. The exterior has a set of Toronado chrome Road Wheels equipped with 225/R15 white wall tires. The spare is a matching Road Wheel. The optional electric clock doesn’t work; they never do. The Toronado is equipped with the 425 cubic inch, 385 Hp. high-compression Olds Engine with the Quadrajet carburetor fuel system, Dual Exhaust, vacuum assist Power Drum Brakes, Power Steering and Front Wheel Drive. The engine starts right up, runs excellent, has plenty of power to spin the front wheels, the TH425 transmission shifts smoothly, and the large drum brakes provide quick, sure stops. All original, unmolested stock 46 year cars don't come up too often. This highly optioned 1966 Olds Toronado with the factory theme plum exterior and interior is a fine example of a desirable car built in a previous time when large muscle cars were king. The Toronado is located in the San Francisco area, has current California registration, and a clear title in my name. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE down payment is due through PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. Balance is due within seven days from auction close. The Toronado is 46 years old and is sold "as is." There is no warranty. Delivery, shipping, and transportation cost are the responsibility of the buyer. Registration fees, transfer fees, license fees, emission test and fees, safety fees are the responsibility of the buyer. I am an individual selling my father's car. I am not a dealer. I have been a member of eBay for over 12 years and have over 800 feedbacks. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
