Vehicle Detail
You’re bidding on a supercharged 1997 Mazda Miata with a hardtop. This is a low mileage Miata with electric windows and mirrors which, I’m told are rare. I purchased this vehicle on ebay 12/05 with 50460 miles. Shortly after purchase I installed the following: -New drilled and slotted brake rotors with green pads, front and rear. -Four new B F Goodrich Traction T/A radial tires on early Miata wheels. I much prefer the looks of the earlier wheels. I have the original ’97 wheels available. -A Borla dual exhaust system plus a high flow cat and stainless header. -A Jackson supercharger designed specifically for this model. I loved the earliest body style of the Miata since its introduction. I bought my first one due to an accident. I backed my pick up into a ’91 and it was cheaper to buy it than fix it through the insurance company. I fixed it and loved driving it. It reminded me so much of the Triumph TR3 I had in college in the ‘60s except everything worked. A friend’s son-in-law needed a car so I ended up giving it to him. Missing the car I started looking for a 1.8 later version of this body style. Like the early Jag XKE and early Viper I think the early Miata looks just right. I have several other cars, including two Vipers, so the Miata mostly sat accumulating only 3500 miles in seven years. I thought my kids would be more interested but you can’t expect your kids to be car crazy just because you were. I’ve decided to let it go. The car is a blast to drive and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. The car is not perfect and I don’t want any surprises for the next owner. -The rectangular sections of the unibody have been deformed by what appears to be a floorjack. I was unaware of this when I purchased the car. I took it to a frame shop and they told me they could fix it for $400 but that I’d be wasting my money. They said the strength of the body was in the sills and the tunnel and that heating the rails to straighten them would make them susceptible to rust. I’m not aware of any rust on the car so I decided against it. -There is a small dent on the lip of the right front fender. The paint is not cracked. One of my motorcycles fell into it. It could be repaired by a paintless repair dent removal. -The heater is bypassed. I noticed a drip of antifreeze from the heater tube at the firewall. The shop manual shows a small hose connection from this tube to the heater core inside the HVAC unit which I suspect. It was on my “to do” list last winter but didn’t happen. The A/C works perfect and blows cold. -The left bolster of the driver’s seat is starting to fray. I bought a set of ’96 seats but never installed them. There is a hardtop which is shown hanging on my garage wall. I have all of the original parts if one wanted to put it back to stock including the complete exhaust system, and intake parts to remove the supercharger. I’ve also accumulated other stuff like a spare radio with speakers, a set of pedal covers, and a clutch. This car will go to the highest bidder unless someone makes me an offer I can’t refuse. Please contact me through ebay with any questions or call my cell phone (765) 744-5518. If I’m not available please leave a message and I will call back.
