Vehicle Detail

1957 Plymouth Suburban Rare Two Door Wagon 301 V8 Powerflight Transmission Good Runner and Driver I am selling a vision I had but am going another direction. I purchased this car with the goal of making it a cool one of a kind "Christine" wagon. I recently found a 2 Door Hardtop that is already done so I am listing this for sale. I purchased this car from an heir to an estate. His grandmother owned it and passed on, with the car sitting in the proverbial barn for over twenty years. Mileage says 51000, very likely original but I have no way of verifying, this is based on my 40 years of owning these cars. First off, it runs and drives and stops fine. The only mechanical issue is the carb needs to be replaced or rebuilt. It purrs when it idles and does not miss a beat, however upon driving it and accelerating it spits and sputters at different points of the throttle. Compression is decent and vacuum is perfect so it is not stuck or burnt valves and it has to be a bad carb. Maybe a good boil to open up the jets would do. Gas tank seems fine, no water or blockages. Trans shifts perfect, no hesitation. Stops fine. Overall car is very low on rust, especially for a 57 plymouth. Minor surface rust on one lower quarter, not cancered out. The only holes in floor board is a relatively small area on drivers area, must have had a water lead there as the rest of the floors, including the trunk area are solid as a rock. This is a very easy restoration project. Has 1958 Tail Lights already, but I have the 1957 Housings and Lenses. Interior in tact, all panels pretty decent and not torn up, headliner all there, one sag where dome light is. Surface rust from condensation on window rails etc. Paint is good and has protected the car well. However I would call it a fair at best prep job. It is an old paint job and there are not any obvious signs of repair but quality of paint looks poor, at least it was thick! Please note: V emblem on car does not go with it, this is a modified emblem I made years ago, I have the standard emblem that goes with car. You could use this car as a driver as is with a carb, but I definitely would go through this and make it an awesome cruiser. Just imagine a two door wagon that is painted red with a white top and black smoked windows! I personally began modifying the tail-lights to convert them to a 57-58 look by cutting down a pair of 58 tail lights and replacing them in the 57 housing reverse light areas. It is not impossible to find a lower grill, headlight and grill items to convert the front end. I have location info for some of these parts. Feel free to call or text me at 503-804-2457. I am a very busy business person and the cars are just a hobby, so please be patient, I will get back to you. Thanks for looking and Enjoy!
