I bought this E30 back in October of 2011 with the timing belt broken and the engine and trans out. The head was cracked around the rocker shaft and 6 intake valves/4exhaust valves were bent. The head was weld repaired and all valves replaced. Valve job completed, new seals, etc. I have slowly put it back together. I also replaced timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner, re-gasketed the whole engine including front and real seals and front and rear gaskets, oil pan gasket, oil cooler gaskets, etc. The odometer shows 138,xxx but as with most E30s it does not work. Speedo works fine. I took a rod bearing cap off to check the bottom end when I had the engine apart. The bearing and the crank looked great. Replaced the 2 rod bolts with new bolts from Pelican Parts. I now have it running and occasionally drive it to work and around town. The A/C is unhooked and the low pressure switch is jumpered. I would assume it had a leak somewhere. I didn't fix this just bolted compressor back to engine. Its all there and the compressor spins. The power steering belt is off. When I got it running the pump was whining and i didnt want to put fluid in it and have it leak on my drive or in my garage. It looked like the rack was previously leaking so I just took the belt off. Unless you are in a parking lot you cant tell much difference in the way it drives. The car runs and drives and I take it out regularly as it is quite fun to drive. Power front windows work well. Central locking system works from trunk lock. Power sunroof motor runs but the sunroof does not open. There are two small rust spots on the sunroof and the top adjacent to the sunroof. Pictures are included. Outside of that there is no rust through on the rest of the car. Very little surface rust even underneath in any other places. Radio needs security code entered but does turn on. Overhead warning system works. Brake lining light occasionally comes on but I have a new sensor with car. It has the popular 3 spoke non airbag steering wheel, BBS 14 inch wheels.
