This auction is for an absolute time capsule 1962 Rambler American 2 door wagon. This car was sold brand new by Courtesy Rambler in Memphis TN., on July 17th 1962. The car has remained in the Memphis area ever since being sold, the car was driven into the original buyers garage in 1988 and was not taken out until July 22nd 2012, as you will be able to tell by the pics. This car is amazingly straight and extremely solid, I took the car to my shop drained and flushed the fuel tank, filed the points, put fresh gas in it plus a hot battery and YES, she fired right up. Starter solenoid is bad so I shorted it out at the starter ( I have a new one ordered) After listening to her run, I decided to go thru the brakes, I pulled the drums and found new brake shoes all the way around her, I put new wheel cylinder kits in her, replaced 1 rubber brake line and 1 metal brake line, bled the brakes and drove her down the road about a mile (smiling!!!) As you will see in some of the first pics, the original owner used some "rattle can" primer on her in a few area's, I spent this weekend washing her up, because she will need a repaint, I decided to wash her with scotch brite removing the ugly primer spots. I cleaned the interior as well, note the headliner. Seats are nice, doorpanels will need replacing as will the carpet... Remember this car sat in a garage since 1988, therfor she will need a good going over, I am NOT representing her to be road worthy!!! However, I AM representing her to be extremely solid and straight!!!!! Please study the pics and ask questions!!! My feedback says the rest... This vehicle will have to be trailered as I do not deem it roadworthy.... Buyer must contact me immediately following the sale for payment instructions!!!! This is a 50 year old vehicle and she is sold "where is as is" Buyer is responsible for shipping On Aug-03-12 at 19:48:54 PDT, seller added the following information: New starter solenoid arrived, I've installed it and it cranks from the key now. I also dropped the fuel tank and cleaned it good, I found a few pinholes on the topside of the tank, I repaired the tank, coated the topside with undercoating and reinstalled it. Fuel sending unit will need to be replaced. Just wanted to be honest about it....On Aug-04-12 at 09:28:03 PDT, seller added the following information: I have received several questions about the car being picked up by transporters, Batesville MS (38606) is right off of I-55 at exit 243.
