Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a basically unmolested 1962 Rag top beetle . The factory original paint was ivory looks to be two other paint jobs in its life. The car has been off he road since 1993. This VW also retains all of its original sheet metal panels and the floor boards which are cancer free with just some minor surface rust . There is a small rust spot on the passenger side 1/4 as the drain was plugged but has been cleared the repair should be fairly simple. The front lower apron has been damaged but can be repaired as well. The door bottoms and jack ports are also in excellent condition needing nothing but a fresh coat of paint. The rag top is in excellent condition and works well just needing some cleaning and the track system lubricated. The glass is all original and has the Sekvrit stamp. The engine is a 1967 H-BLOCK which has approx. 5000 miles on a rebuild from Auto Craft in Salem Or. My brother Steve Bass was the Northwests premier Air cooled mechanic and would have loved this project but passed away in 2007. These cars have been in our family for 30 plus years. This will make a excellent candidate for a full restoration project. The cars comes with both the original low back seats and a set of 1967 highback seats I also have a after market headliner in off white vinyl , new grey carpet kit, new front and rear seat upholstery in black square weave vinyl and the front upper and lower seat foam pads and felt. The fenders are on with just a few bolts some of the bolts need repair the running boards are original and can be easily restored. some of the running board mounting bolts are broken and will need to be drilled out and re tapped. I have a new fuel line which needs to be installed and is disconnected at this time. I have a new rear bumper and have all the original bumper supports the bumper mounts have been welded to the frame. There is a new O.E.M. exhaust system with new tips. The tires are assorted brands a have some slow leaks. The body panels look super straight with very little body work someone has welded up the body trim molding hole and the front blinkers mounting holes but can be drilled out for your molding Strips which are not in the sale. The car has had the 12 volt upgrade and a new wiring harness. I have several boxes of assorted parts and fasteners 2 E brake cables fender gaskets a few knobs. Pretty much everything needed to reassemble the Beetle.
