Vehicle Detail
This car was purchased brand new by my father-in-law in January 1970 in Luck Wisconsin at Palmberg Impl. and Auto Inc. He rarely drove the car in the winter and kept it shedded all year round, and most of the miles were long distance miles. He used the car extensively for pulling campers on vacation around the country. I purchased the car in 1994 and have driven the car in a similar manner for pulling a camper, and I have driven it almost exclusively in the summer and have shedded it ever since. The engine is original, and uses very little oil. A new timing chain, water pump, and thermostat were put in 9,000 miles ago. A new rebuilt transmission, starter and solenoid were put in 4,000 miles ago. I replaced the ball joints and brake hoses 11,000 miles ago. New brake shoes 10,000 miles ago. 3,000 miles ago the brakes were checked; 80% left on rear brakes, 20% left on front. I packed the front wheels, put in new seals, and replaced the right wheel bearing 18,000 miles ago. All 4 tires were replaced 3,000 miles ago. Spark plugs, wires, points, cap and rotor were replaced 2,500 miles ago. The gas tank was replaced by a stainless steel one some years ago. The car has airbags inside of the rear coils for suspension, and I have one extra on hand included with the car. The washer fluid bag wore out some time ago and was removed and not replaced. The coolant overflow reservoir also was replaced with a non-factory substitute. The compressor for the A/C was removed and not replaced. The car has a power rear window that works very well. All other windows are manual and fully functional. There are no holes/tears in any of the seats. There is one small hole in the headliner, otherwise the rest is in excellent condition. One plastic interior wheel well cover has cracked and been taped (see picture.) The dashboard is in very good condition. The car's paint is original, except for the bottom strip below the wood paneling. I still have the original owner's manual, which is in excellent condition. This car is truly a classic and has been cherished by our family for over 40 years. In all my years of traveling the country, I am yet to find another Ambassador SST wagon in this good of shape, let alone one at all. Therefore, we hope to sell our car to a responsible buyer who will take excellent care of it, and with a little bit of work, could have a show car. If you have any questions or would like to view the car, feel free to email me. We expect a $500 deposit within the first 48 hours of the auction ending via Paypal, and the full price within 14 days of auction ending using either cash or cashier's check. The buyer is responsible for shipping; the car is roadworthy or they could flatbed it.
