Vehicle Detail
This 1964 Riviera was an AACA Nationals 1st Place car in 1997, it won numerous awards with the AACA while the previous owner had it. The car is virtually rust free and the paint is in wonderful condition. The car has aged very gracefully since winning first place in 1997. The upholstery still looks wonderful, the trunk is a thing of beauty, and the engine is clean enough to eat off of. The bumpers are still near perect and the body is as straight as can be. The rear brake light lens bezels have a few small pits starting up, and the door handles have some small pits, that is really about all. As you can see from the pictures the car still looks wonderful. It is believed that the milage is correct on the car due to condition Mechanically, I recently had the drive shaft pulled, rebalanced and new carrier bearings installed, new shock absorbers, and all new brakes and brake hoses. The original carburetor was removed, my mechanics attempted to rebuild it, but it just was not right, so I had a different Carter carb rebuilt and installed, and it now starts and runs perfect. It is not the original 64 factory carb, it is from a 65. It was freshly tuned up this spring, and the oil changed out with Penn Racing oil and additional ZDDP added. The car idles like a nailhead should, smooth and quiet, yet hit the gas and the 425 engine will go with a vengance. I had additional steering components changed out, and the car drives and handles like new. The steering is very tight, there is no wander or drifting, it is comfortable driving at 65 mph and up into the 80s. There is never any feeling that the car isnt stable at these high speeds, and the new brakes assure you that you can stop it when needed. The Wheels on the car are a set of freshly rechromed Rallyes, they were near perfect before chroming, and they absolutely look fantastic on the car now. I do have the correct wire hub caps and wheels. Should the new owner prefer these to the rallyes, I will reduce the price on the car by $650 and put the originals back on the car and retain the ralleyes. The tires are new and sized at 225/75/15. When I got the car, it still retained the bias ply tires that were correct for the car. The trunk of the car as you can see is very nice, and still has the correct spare tire under the tire cover. The upholstery in the car is all original and still in very wonderful condition, there are some scuffs in the paint below the key switch , I assume from a key chain rubbing over it. There are no tears or damage to the upholstery. The power windows work as new, and line up perfectly and seal the doors nice and quiet. The AM/FM radio works well, I did replace both speakers as the sound quality just was not what I wanted. In doing this, I did something to the switch for the power antenna, and it now doesnt work. The antenna is in an up position, so I left it as it is. The car has a working rear window defrost. All chrome/brightwork inside is in very nice condition. The body on the car is as solid as can be. I dont see any areas of rust in any of the usual locations, the trunk pan and floors are near perfect. One very small paint bubble on one of the doors, it has been this way for some time and not changed, and not even really noticed. The body lines are incrededible, and its easy to see the car was well cared for. The paint is still near show quality with one or two tiny nicks from sand or stones on the road. Chrome work and bumpers are still very very nice. The car could be very simply returned to the show status it previously held, It was my desire to leave it as it is, and enjoy the car. I am currectly down sizing a few cars and will have one other for sale, a 61 Buick LeSabre. This will be listed shortly I welcome any potential buyers to come look and drive the car, I do not think there will be any regrets.
