SERIUOS INQUIRES ONLY PLEASE. Do not waste both of our time. Please do not ask for the title in advance or while making a payment arrangement. Title will be handed over at the DMV office when the contract is signed before their notary. This listing is also on Craigs List and may be removed at any time. For sale is a 1988 Mazda RX7 coupe. I would consider this a project car. The body is a 1988 2 door 2 seater, burgundy color. I bought it off of a guy in my car club about 10 years ago. I had an 86 RX7 that the body was way to dinged up so pulled the engine and tranny from the 86 and put it in the 88. Dave from KD rotary was the guy who switched the motor and trans over. The trans was rebuilt right before the transfer as well as the clutch and engine. The tranny and clutch were done at AAMCO in Reading PA. The engine was rebuilt by Angels Cycle World in York PA. They do a lot of RX7 work in the area. I believe I have the paperwork for the engine rebuild, and possibly the tranny. Once the engine was rebuilt, it was driven for maybe 6 months before RD Rotary switched the parts some time in June of 2001. After that I moved to VA, and the car has been sitting at my parents since. It still needed work at the time (breaks, radiator, and exhaust). I had intentions to bring the car to VA to finish it, but never did, and now do not have time or money for a project car. The car has been in the Poconos, covered but out in the driveway for the last 11 years. Started only a few times when I was up to visit, but safe to say the battery is gone now so have not tried to restart in a few years. The car is being sold AS IS. I am trying to do my best to describe its condition. The body is still in great shape considering the age and being outside, very miner dings, paint starting to fade on top of roof, and rust on the trim from the door windows and windshield wipers. Has only 1 seat inside as I was going to redo the entire car. You can make much more then my asking even if you had the time to part the car out, which I do not have the time to do. Bank certified check for the funds only or cash if we meet at your bank or ATM. Recently.... I went to where the car is located to add fluids and fuel and turn her over. Someone had gone to see the car before then without me being there as I live almost 2 hours away. They had broken the cable to release the hood at what looks like at the latch, since there was a considerable amount of cable that came out. Because of this I can not verify if the car will start. I do not want to pry the hood open and damage the body. If someone knows how to release the hood, please let me know. The car sits on grass so the ground is too soft to try and jack it up. Because of the situation and you take the car as is with no guarantee (though I strongly believe there is no issue here) to its operational status. A non refundable deposit of $300.00 is required via PayPal within 24 hours of agreeing to take the vehicle that is applied to the balance of the sale price. Bill of sale and title of car will be transferred to you with documents signed in front of a PA notary, so we will need to make arrangements to meet at her office. This is for your protection as well as mine. And the rims you see in the back are also available for the front. They are just inside the car. *****Update 7/6/12**** I was able to get the hood open to the car. There is a slight bend to the left of the center of the tip of the hood where I had to pry it up to remove the screws to the hood release mech. This is nothing major and a simple fix when you took the car to be painted (I am assuming that you will have it painted)
