Vehicle Detail
1975 Dodge Dart Swinger 2-door hardtop coupe 225 ci Slant Six engine with 1 bbl carb, 3 speed column-shift automatic transmission Just under 69,000 original miles This 1975 Dodge Dart Swinger two door hardtop was purchased new at Bill Tomczak Dodge in Chicago on December 30, 1975. In addition to the standard equipment the car was equipped with the Merchandising Package which includes the following: Torqueflite automatic transmission Vinyl roof Power steering Deluxe wheel covers Remote control mirror (left) Day/night inside mirror AM radio Three speed windshield wipers Black vinyl side moulding, sill moulding and wheel lip moulding Fuel pacer system Deluxe sound insulation package Inside hood release Dual horns Light package Manual disc brakes (front) This car was also equipped with an electronic ignition system, a rear window defogger, and Triple Seal rustproofing that was applied at the dealership. The original owner installed a fuel cut-off toggle switch under the dashboard sometime in the 1970’s. Since the end of 1975 this car has covered just less than 69,000 miles while in the care of four owners in Chicago and Wisconsin. I have owned the car since 2004, putting about 3,000 miles on the car each summer and storing it in the winter. Extensive paperwork on the car’s history all the way back to new is included with the car. Exterior – the owner before me did some touch up work to the paint, but unfortunately he did not do a very good job so there are a few areas on the paint job that are patchwork. Other than that, the original red paint still shines up with a good buffing! The vinyl roof is in mint condition, and all trim pieces are present and in good shape. The factory applied “Unleaded Fuel Only” sticker is still standing guard above the gas cap. Interior – Black vinyl bench seats, black carpeting, wood grained dash and door panels, deluxe steering wheel, original AM radio, etc. Everything is there, everything works, and everything is in great condition. Mechanical – the Slant Six engine is known for its reliability, and this one is no exception. Engine and transmission are both in excellent working condition. Recent work: replaced the fan belt in 2011, replaced the radiator in 2009. The steering is a bit vague thanks to some worn out bushings and ball joints in the suspension, but to the best of my knowledge there is nothing that needs to be fixed immediately. Also, the oil pan gasket has a very small leak of 1-2 drops of oil every few weeks. Body – There is a small hole through the driver’s side floorboard, right where your heel rests when your foot is on the gas. Other than that the body and frame on this car are solid and remarkably rust free for a Midwestern car. The rustproofing that was applied when the car was new seems to have done its job. The sale also includes both Dodge shop manuals, and an assortment of extra replacement parts for some of the harder to find items (light bulbs, spare trim pieces, etc.) that have been with the car since before I owned it. This car has been a great pleasure to own, and I will be sad to see it go but it’s time to move on. Someone is going to get an excellent entry-level collector car or starting point for a street rod project. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, to request additional photographs, or to arrange a test drive. The car is located in Port Washington, about 30 minutes North of Milwaukee. Thank you for looking, and happy bidding! On Jun-27-12 at 19:27:51 PDT, seller added the following information: JUNE 27 UPDATE - By request, I posted a few pictures of the floor pan rust to the Photobucket album shown below. You cannot literally see through the metal in any spots, but the area shown in the pictures is soft enough to push with your finger and move the carpeting behind it. I hope that answers the questions I have received - if you want to see any additional photos just let me know! http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r221/duclown/Dart%20floor%20pan%20rust/
