Vehicle Detail

1986 Toyota Cressida Sedan, Automatic, Very Clean, No Rust, Power Moonroof, Florida Car, All Original, New Stereo This is an all-original car, except for some Dynamat soundproofing and (4) new speakers, to go along with the new JVC stereo system. The first thing you notice about it is how clean everything is. The odometer no longer registers miles - I estimate the car has about 100,000 miles on it up to this point. This car lived in Florida it's entire life and has ZERO rust. It has a new battery and recent exhaust system work. I have also replaced the spark plug wires. I have added a significant amount of Dynamat to the rear half of the interior, along with the new speakers. Everything has been cleaned thoroughly and there are no strange odors. It took me several hours to remove the very dark Florida-style window tint and clean all the residue off the windows. The JVC stereo is very nice - easy to use, professionally installed, and it has Bluetooth capability for your cell phone. It also has a USB input in the center console storage area and a 1/8" stereo minijack (AUX Input) on the face of the unit, which has a detachable faceplate. I installed the Bluetooth handsfree microphone in the dash, where the original redundant volume knob was installed for the factory stereo. All features and electrical equipment work, and I recently drove it up non-stop from Pennsylvania to New Hampshire with no issues at all. The jack, spare tire and tool kit have been removed, cleaned and lubricated, and put back into place. Also, the entire interior was removed so that I could shampoo the carpeting and as part of a custom stereo project, which I decided not to do to this car, as it is otherwise all original. I decided it was better to leave this one as a great example of an original Cressida. After cleaning everything, it was reassembled and is now ready! The paint looks great from 20 feet away - it is original and has numerous "character marks". This car is finished in a very subtle and business-like Black Sapphire Metallic with Deep Greenish-Graphite Metallic side panels. This was one of several two-tone paint schemes Toyota offered on the Cressida. The Toyota Cressida was the top-of-the-line model sold in the USA. This body style was made from 1985 to 1988. Until Toyota launched their Lexus division, this was the most luxurious and most well-equipped Toyota you could buy. The quality of these "old school" Toyotas is outstanding. All of the exterior brightwork is stainless steel. Every electrical connector has an O-ring weather seal on it, which was by no means a regular feature of most cars back then. Many experts feel that after the 1992 Camry came out, in other words, after the end of the 1991 and earlier generation Camry, the days of the original Toyota quality and overall approach were behind us. Just as a small example, this car uses chrome-plated metal sunvisor mounting hardware. On my friend's 2008 Corolla, these same parts are dull boring plastic. This is an unusual example of a Cressida in that it still has the original windshield! There are two Toyota factory-applied stickers right where the Toyota worker installed them on the lower right corner of the windshield. Please feel free to call with any questions. Leave a message if I cannot answer immediately - I will return all interested calls. Depending on where you live I may be able to assist you in getting the car to your driveway, after it is paid for. Thanks! Sincerely, David H. On Jun-29-12 at 13:50:37 PDT, seller added the following information: This car should be thought of as a "workingman's car" rather than a show car, or a perfect example of a Cressida. If it was it would be worth several thousand dollars, and those types of Cressidas only come up for sale on eBay three or four times a year. If you really wanted to fix it up, you would want to do a thorough repaint, which would involve removing numerous small and large metal moldings and other pieces of exterior trim, to do a really nice job. The interior really does not need anything to show the car in a local car show. You can certainly take it home and just buff out the paint and enjoy the car the way it is. That won't fix the numerous small scratches and paint defects, such as a small amount of acid rain damage on the hood, but it will increase the overall gloss level. The only "hunch" I have regarding the mechanical condition is that I would expect you to want to replace the cylinder head with a remanufactured one sometime in the next year. You can buy a really nice remanufactured cylinder head for this car for about $350 to $400. This is just a gut instinct based on many years of working on cars, not absolute proof.
