Vehicle Detail
'89 944 Turbo. In case you don't know: All '89 turbo's were "S" cars and the hardest to find. *The odometer reads around 66k but is not working. I'm assuming the car has around 90k miles. There were some modifications performed by the previous owner- Lindsey racing 4" exhaust (has cat-bypass/resonator now,but cat will be included); Clubgate, *Solid lifters, Rebuilt engine and turbo. New hoses, belts, etc.. I was told the car has only been run at stock boost levels, and I have done the same. Aluminum Flywheel. *From my understanding the car had solid lifters installed because at the time the engine was rebuilt they were having the faulty lifter issue, so the PO must have been advised to just go with the solid lifters. I believe these were done by the shop because there is no stamp on the valve cover as there is when performed by lindsey racing. From what I was told the car has had nothing but Joe Gibbs racing oil since rebuild to protect the cam/solid lifters. The first thing I did when I got the car was change the oil with new filter and Joe gibbs oil. Other Flaws: There is some seepage coming from the power steering resevour and a few drops of oil, or ps fluid residing on the oil pan. There is never any left on the garage floor and has not used any fluids since I have had the car, so is very minimal. I have noticed a very slight hesitation at part throttle only. I believe this to be the Airflow meter, or mis adjusted TPS. It's not bad, but is there at times. Absolutely smooth at WOT though. Cruise control is not working, sunroof works intermittenly. There are dash cracks. There are holes in front floor, rear wheel wells, and rear lower floor where somewhere along the line the car must have had a roll cage installed. These holes have been plugged and don't affect the rigidity of the car. Drivers side seat has a seperation at the bottom section in the center. The car has been resprayed at some point. The paint has a decent shine, but by no means a show quality paint job for you can see flaws here and there. I am very picky and notice EVERYTHING. Some may think the paint looks great.... I have put a brand new lower front "bat wing" spoiler on the car. The lower engine cover is there. Who ever painted the car before painted the rocker panels for whatever reason and the paint is begining to flake off. There are a few minor dings here and there. One front wheel has curbing damage. Tires have decent tread, but one of the rear tires is of a different type. Shifting is slightly notchy when cold but smooth once warmed up. The Good: Was previously a Texas car, so no rust issues. Rubber around glass frames is in good shape. A/C works great! Interior is in great shape other than what is mentioned above. Just recently installed a set of low-mileage m030 struts and shocks (not cheap). I replaced the struts because there was some noise coming from the front left suspension. The strut looked to be leaking so I assumed that was the problem. After replacing the struts the noise is still present. I am assuming the ball joint needs replacing and that is what is causing the noise. New plugs, LR wires, cap, rotor, vacuum lines. New door seals. New pelican shift boot/frame and rennbay aluminum "turbo" inlay. While I did that I also replaced the shift lever and ball cup. Stereo and 10 speakers work, but EQ was unhooked by PO. JVC cd player with usb/ipod port. The engine starts smoothly, revs smoothly, runs great, and has NEVER smoked, even at cold start up, with no cat installed, so I know the engine is healthy. This car has a lot of potential, but by no means a "cream puff" yet. I have stated all known issues with the car, so it is the buyers responsibility to inspect/have an inspection performed for there own verification. I have replaced quite a few parts on this car and have probably forgotten a few things.... I simply have too many vehicles, so I'm letting a few go. On Jun-14-12 at 15:00:19 PDT, seller added the following information:On Jun-15-12 at 11:24:39 PDT, seller added the following information: I just found the paper listing vague details of the rebuild performed in 2004. The previous owner stated: Wiseco pistons, new bearings, lightened connecting rods, installation of Lindsey Racing Baffle in oil pan, Aluminum flywheel, Lindsey Racing solid lifters, Port and polished intake and exhaust, Complete top-end rebuild with "pro" valve job, Turbo rebuilt to original specs, LR clubgate installed, Fuel injectors rebuilt and tested, All new gaskets and seals, All new hoses, oil lines, oil cooler, new belts (I'm assuming timing belt), Joe gibbs xp3 oil used after rebuild and there after. I'm guessing the car has been driven very little since this rebuild was performed but I have no way to prove it. Other: Lindsey Racing 4" exhaust with borla muffler. LR DME/KLR chips, SS brake lines. All the mods kept the car legal for "stock" PCA competition? but the air box was tossed for cone filter, because it was cracked. I don't believe the car was actually ever "raced" I think at some point there were intensions, but doubt it happened. I was told the Previous owner was in his upper sixties.... I lost contact with the previous owner because I was very upset about finding the car once may have had a roll bars and this was not disclosed in the description among other little things. I forgot to mention the car has fresh Redline MT90 in tranny. When I got the car some of the Front speakers were dead, so I replaced them with other exact used originals from 10-speaker system. I know theyre 20yr old speakers, but they're odd sizes so its best to keep them original, unless you completely re-vamp the stereo. I have disclosed every flaw I know of with this car so there are no suprises. Thank you.
