Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a very well optioned 1970 Challenger (A66) 340-4spd with (H51) A/C . In 1970, you could not get a R/T with anything but a big block. A66 is the 340 performance option that gave the R/T equipment with the 340 and was only available in 1970. I am unsure of the exact number of 4spd cars that were built with A/C; however, there were not many and this is a rare find. If you are after a 70 4spd Challenger that retains its original motor, and all body numbers match, keep reading. Other options on this car include (E55) 340, (D21) 4spd (A62) Ralley Dash, (A66) 70 Only 340 Performance Package, (B51) Power Front Disc Brakes (C55) Bucket Seats, (C62) 6 Way Drivers Seat (H51) Air Conditioning, (J54) Ralley Hood, (M21) Drip Moldings, (N41) Dual Exhaust, (N42) Chrome Tips, (N85) Tach, (R11) Am Radio, (V1W) White Vinyl Roof, (V98) Bumblebee Stripe Delete, ( 26 ) 26’’ Rad. (FK5) Burnt Orange Exterior with (K6K4) Burnt Orange Interior. This is a very solid car and is mostly complete, only missing a few items that are easily found. That’s why I bought it. The car has its original motor but not the original trans. The car currently has a 3 spd manual but auction does include a 4spd to swap back to. Don’t let the primer fool you. There is very minimal body work that has been done or that is needed on this car. Please take a look at the pictures closely or better yet, come inspect the car yourself. The typical areas that usually deteriorate, regardless of where the car is located, have not. Any metal repairs that have been done or needed repairs are very minimal and are much less than typically found on e-bodies. All areas underneath the car are very solid, from rear rails to front rails, torsion mounts, cross member, and the important areas in between. Some parts of the floor were replaced and only have under drivers feet by pedals left to repair. Even the trunk floor will require only minimal work. Fenders, doors, and quarters are very nice, with only the very lower areas of quarters needing minimal attention and are very straight. Inner front fenders, hood mounts, rad support and firewall are solid and straight. The car shows no signs of ever being hit or wrecked. Hood and trunk lid are in nice shape, as is the cowl, windshield area, rear window areas, and rear filler panel, with minimal work needing done to the expected areas and typical lower corners. Grill and bezels are nice. This car could be turned into a driver with some work, and restored the fun way, as you drive it. I am selling this car to fund some other projects or I would do just that. I am also including in this auction a very nice original dash pad, new fuel tank, and replacement section for front driver floor, 23 spline 4spd with pistol grip, and descent set of exhaust tips. These items are included in the reserve price. For 150 more pictures of the car and what is included along with it, go here photobucket.com/albums/ll282/challenger-3404spd-70/ I try to describe the cars I list for auction in a way that there is no question as to what you are buying. I may of missed some things in my description that you want to know, so, don’t hesitate to ask any questions. And by all means, come look at this car or have someone view it for you prior to the end of the auction. If you want pics of any area of the car just ask. My reserve is set very fair. If you’re the winning bidder you will have yourself a great car to restore and a uniquely optioned and air conditioned A66 340 4spd 70 challenger. This car is being sold as is/where is. There are no warranties expressed, written or implied. Shipping, arranging shipping, and all costs associated with shipping are the responsibility of the winning bidder. I may be able to deliver at your expense. $500.00 deposit is due within 48 hours and full payment must be paid within 7 days of auction’s end. I do reserve the right to end this auction early but will not end the auction if the reserve is met. I will not release the car, title, or any parts associated with the car for any reason until full payment has been made and has cleared. I will only accept wire transfer or certified funds for payment. Deposit must be made with a wire transfer. On Jun-15-12 at 04:28:59 PDT, seller added the following information:I wanted to take some time and answer a few of the same questions I keep getting. With respect to all bidders, I am going to let the auction run its course. I appreciate the buy it now offers and will entertain them if the car does not sell in the auction. Ive been asked many times if the car runs. I have not had the car running in a while but ran well when it did. The motor is free and should fire up with little effort. Everything worked on the car from lights to turn signals ect.. I bought the car as a future project and I did drive the car up and down the road a few times but has been parked for a while. I ran the car off of a separate can and im including a new in the box fuel tank in the auction which I did not mention in my description. The motor is numbers matching to the car. For the most part, the car sits exactly as I bought it with the exception of continuing some floor work. I did not find a buildsheet and searched pretty much everywhere except in the headliner. Ive been asked whats the car missing as well, The car is mostly complete and is missing a few things such as air cleaner, radiator, original carb and radio and im sure some odds and ends here and there. The radiator that is in the car now does not go with it. This is a great car to restore. Although there is some, there is not a ton metal work that needs done. When I bought the car I was searching for a little bit different optioned 70-71 ebody 4spd car to restore. I wanted a complete car that was all or nearly all there and numbers matching and didn’t want to have to replace every panel on the car. After a long search this car is what I found. Its definitely optioned different and does not need a large shipment from a.m.d. and is pretty much all there. Although I highly recommend you to see the car in person before the auction ends but for those of you who cannot come see the car I added many pictures from a view point of making sure I covered the areas that I look for and tried to make sure they represent the car well so you know what your getting yourself into and there are no surprise disappointments. My viewpoint may not be the same as yours so don’t hesitate to ask questions and if you need any pictures of anywhere on the car let me know.
