Vehicle Detail
I have my 1971 Dodge Charger 500 up for sale. I have owned this car since 1988 and am the third owner. Second owner bought it to sell so he didnt own it long. This car was special ordered buy the original owner in triple green. Car has many options and the original window sticker to prove it. I also have the broadcast sheet but it is in pieces. All numbers match on this car. I have installed a 440 long ago but it still has the numbers matching tranny and rearend. I have the numbers matching 383 4 barrel engine. It is still standard bore and never been rebuilt. It is included in the sale. Lets start with the body. All original sheet metal is still on this car. Never been in a wreck. Car is super solid and has been garage kept since 1988. Floors are excellent with no rust. Trunk pan had some surface rust when I got it so I applied some POR 15. Fenders are good with no bondo or body work as are the quarter panels. Ramcharger hood is rust free and was installed about 1990. It did have a small dent in the front edge of it when I got it and where I had it repaired the paint has cracked. Great hood complete with all original underhood stuff. Doors are rust free. I believe one quarter has a small rust spot but no noticeable unless you are on the ground. Trunk extensions are original and excellent. Really the worst rust in the car is the dutchman panel/ rear deck filler. It is obviously cause by the vinyl top. There is some rust on the lip of the trunk lid. I have a good original trunk lid and a dutchman panel that goes with the car. This car is a DRIVER not a show car. It was painted in 1988 and shows scratches chips etc. It shines good but needs a detailing and waxing. Same goes for the engine. Driver front fender has a dent in it. There is a picture of it below. Taillights are in super shape. Bumpers and front grille are original and show their age. They have no damage, dent or breaks. Interior is nice in the car! Has excellent head liner and carpet. Original door panels very good. Dash pad has two cracks in it. Guages are nice as well as the dash bezel. This is a original houndstooth bucket seat car. Front covers are Legendary with original NOS material. Rear seat is the original cover and slightly faded compared to the front. I also have the original rim blow steering wheel and adapter that goes with the car. Cassette player is original to the car. Interior is very nice! Has Rallye gauges and a factory tach behind the Auto meter tach. Has the original spare and jack in the trunk. The drivetrain... Hensley racing built steel crank 440. It should have about 500 horsepower. Block is .30 over and crank standard/ standard. Eagle H beam rods with Ross pistons. Compression ratio is 10 to1. Cast iron 2.14 1.81 valved ported hardened valve seat heads. Crane 1.5 roller rockers. Mopar purple 509 cam. Edelbrock performer intake with Holley 750. Hooker Super Comp 2 inch primary tube headers. Has mini starter and extra capcity oil pan. Lots of good stuff in the motor and engine compartment. MSD, electronic distibuter etc... If I remember correct it is a 1969 block. It has approximately 1800 miles on the rebuild. Original 727 built also by Hensley with Cheetah valve body. Turbo Action 3200 stall converter. Shifts good. The 8 3/4 is also original to the car. It has its original Sure-grip unit but has Richmond 4.10 gears now. Original 3.23 gears are also included in the sale. Original extra heavey duty srings and torsion bars still there. Has 3 inch exhaust from the headers back. Has x pipe with Dynomax mufflers and TTI tailpipes. Runs very good! Should be WELL WELL into the 12s in the quarter. It will burn the 305s off. Wheels are vintage American Racing 200s. Fronts are 15x7 with 235 60 BFG radial T/As. Rears are 15x10 with 305 50 BFG Euro T/As. I sent the rears to Eric Vaughn in California and had him widen the to the inside. Wheels restored by Rods West in california. Now for the options etc. This is 1 of 1376 1971 Charger 500s with 383 magnum and automatic transmission. Following is a list of options as they appear on the window sticker. -D5F7 Bucket seats cloth/ vinyl -B41 disc brakes -C16 console -C92 floor mats -D34 727 trans -D91 sure-grip -E65 383 4 bbl -G11 tinted glass -G33 mirror left side remote -H51 Air conditioning -J52 remoted hood release -J55 undercoating and hood insulator pad -M05 door edge protecters -R26 AM radio with stereo tape cassette -S15 extra heavey duty suspension -S77 power steering -S83 rim blow steering wheel -V1F vinyl top -V7X paint stripes -yada yada yada for a grand total of $4819.85. Options added. I have added the front and rear spoilers. I also put dual painted mirrors on it. Installed Addco front and rear sway bars and KYB shocks. Also the Ramcharger hood. It functions as it should but I am using the original A/C vacuum can to operate it as well as a vacuum switch from another application. List of parts included with the car. You will get the air conditioning stuff that I removed from the car. Original 3.23 gears. Original Rim Blow steering wheel and adapter. Numbers matching 383 magnum. Nice trunk lid and dutchman panel. I have a new complete PST front suspesion rebuild kit. Also there may be a few other items I cant think of. This car starts and runs and sounds excellent!! It does need the brakes blead and there is tail pipe that needs adjusted as it rattles when idling. Has Optima battery located in the trunk. I have gobs of info on the car. Many reciepts and lots of paperwork back to the original owner. Ask any questions! I am sure I have forgot something. If you need more pictures let me know. I have more and can take more.
