Up for bids, with no reserve, is a 1978 Mercedes Benz 280CE, classic W123 body style. It is the cousin model to the diesel 300 CD. I've owned both, and this gasoline engine offers great power and smooth shifting transmission. The interior is very clean, and lacks any pet hair or signs of smoking. The headliner is very nice, as is the springs in the seats. All windows go up and down, moonroof works, and has it's original window glass. The interior fan works well, however there's sometimes a slight rumbling noise somewhere in that area. The odometer stopped working recently, and I'd say it has an additional 3000 miles than shown. There's a slight exhaust leak engine to mid-section. All dash lights don't work at night. I believe the car is due for a throttle body and idle bypass motor cleaning, as occassionally upon warm startup the car engine doesn't idle smoothly for about 30 seconds. The car starts quickly though. The radio antenna isn't working, however I believe it's complete (not broken off). The brakes and suspension are good. The tires are nearly new Micheline's, all matching. There's inside wear on the drivers front tire, reflective of needing a ball joint, alignment, etc. The steering pulls slightly to the right. The steering is tight with no play. Interior is very clean, and the top of the rear seat should be recovered due to the sun. The rust is mostly on the rear passenger body panel and the under the front bumper 'bib' area, and the very bottom of the front fenders. The paint is glossy on the hood, however the rest of the car needs a good buffing or new paint. There's light window fogging at the bottom of the windshield corners. Repairs in 2011 include new ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, and new fuel pump assembly. Zero or less than 10 feedback bidders must contact me before bidding.
