Vehicle Detail

1967 Oldsmobile 442 If you wish to look at the car in person or if you have any questions please feel free to contact me on my cell at 618-240-0010. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE A MESSAGE IF YOU GET NO ANSWER. Car is also going to be in several classifieds as well as for sale locally so auction could end at any time. The recipient of a frame off restoration a few years ago, this is a REAL DEAL all numbers matching actual 442 with the exception of a set of Hedman stainless steel headers. This 442 features a 350 HP high compression 400 Olds engine (with E block and intake, C heads, V prefix G suffix unit number) with a 400 Turbo automatic transmission and a 12 bolt 3.08 posi traction rear end. All numbers, codes, stampings are correct right down to the numbers on the carb and distributor. To say it just doesn't do it justice but this car runs EXTREMELY well. If you're looking for a pimped out cream puff with all the power accessories you better look elsewhere. A fairly low optioned car it has fully functional factory air with an R134 retro fit in addition to power steering and power brakes. Black interior is very nice with new carpet, headliner, and seat upholstery. Door panels are very nice near flawless originals with new chrome arm rest supports. Dash and dash pad are original and do show only very minimal age. Dash pad is supple and crack free. Silver plastic dash bezel is non restored and does show a little age but is still very nice and presentable. Console is much the same with the silver inserts in the shifter showing some age but still very nice. All of the dash, opera and courtesy lights work including the light inside the console and the e-brake indicator. Speedometer and fuel gauge work. A non Rally Pack equipped car, it has aftermarket gauges nicely mounted under the dash. In addition to the original unhooked AM radio mounted in its original position, it also has a modern CD player with Sirius/XM capability and iPod connectivity discreetly mounted in the dash. Speakers are very nicely mounted in the kick panels. Steering wheel is a replacement wood wheel from Grant that adds a nice touch that corresponds with the shifter ball. Originally coded for Pewter paint the exterior color was changed to red (resembles Matador Red) during restoration. I do believe this car carries most of its original sheet metal save the panel between the deck lid and back glass which is a very typical trouble area for these cars. Body panels are straight and feature superb gaps. The car has been driven some since then so please expect to see some very minor imperfections associated with driving. Weather stripping and windlaces have all been replaced and it's literally amazing how tight this car is driving down the highway with all the windows up. Frame and floors are solid and rust free. Entire under side of car has been nicely finished and detailed in satin black. Trunk is solid and also exceptionally detailed with original type spatter paint and rubber trunk mat that I believe to be the original. Car also comes equipped with a full size 14" SSI spare and jack. Suspension has been rebuilt and rebushed with new coil springs and many other new parts. Motor has been rebuilt to spec and nicely finished in bronze paint with new valve cover decals. It also features a correctly coded rebuilt and detailed QuadraJet and chrome snorkel-less air cleaner. Entire engine bay and under side of hood is nicely detailed and clean. Chrome bumpers and other bright work is nice. Glass is near perfect. All of the emblems, grilles, grille bars, filler panels, name badges, exterior light bezels, etc. have either been replaced or restored. It even carries a set of reproduction T3's. This Olds also sits on pristine reproduction 14" SSI wheels with Uniroyal white letter tires that are next to new. Also included is the original owner's manual and pouch in decent condition from Hannah Oldsmobile in Louisville, Kentucky. Overall this car has an exceptionally thorough and highly detailed better than factory frame off restoration. Although lately 442's have started to gather steam it wouldn't be a stretch to say that the market just hasn't kept up with these cars. As a result it's so hard to find these particular cars in such wonderful condition. I can also tell you that there is no way you can restore this car to this condition for what the asking price is here. I've also had this car to a couple of shows in the last couple of weeks and picked up the Club Choice Best Paint Award at one (out of 150 cars) and a Top 50 Award at one in Evansville, IN (out of over 300 cars). I get comments every time I take it out. It is straight, solid and would be very mechanically sound. It would be hard to be disappointed in this car.
