Vehicle Detail

Only once in a lifetime does a true historical Mercedes vehicle come available at an affordable price. I found this Mercedes 22 window Omni-bus several years ago in a high mountain desert town in Northern New Mexico and procured it as a future project but an auto/pedestrian accident has left me unable to continue preforming auto and truck restorations so I have decided to undertake finding a viable home for this wonderful project. This Omni according to the text, heavily faded but still faintly visible on both sides and back states: MERCEDES BENZ MOBILE TRAINING UNIT No.27 and in smaller text on the lower side just behind the doors: Mercedes Benz of North America Inc. Due to the nature of the elements of the high mountain desert in which this Omni has languished for more than 35 years there are no signs of cancer in the vehicle what-so-ever. The roof has surface rust where the paint is burnt off from the sun but no heavy pitting or rust out is exhibited. The body also shows NO signs of accident damage or repair outside a couple minor dings on a couple corners. It would appear however that the hood/bonnet was used at one time for someone to sit on or maybe run over by another vehicle and is pretty rough but repairable by a competent bodyman if a replacement cannot be found. All the glass is in very good condition including the windshield though the rear most piece ( a flat panel) has gone missing. I don't believe this Omni ever had back seats but all the other trim pieces ( interior lights, curtain rods on the roof windows, rear roof ventilator fan, and roof vent ) are in tact. Omni has three doors with a back hatch which all function and all instrumentation is present, however the original ignition switch has been replaced. Some of the outside trim molding is missing as is much of the Webasto sunroof mechanism and bows. All the original wheels and differential are present but the original 190 Benzine engine and 4spd. transmission are long gone and a botched attempt to install an early aluminum V 6 present. I am sure this is why the Omni was left behind here. The original M 121. and four speed transmission are abundantly available and replacement of such should not present an issue and a cursory inspection inclines me to believe most all for the engine compartment components and electrical are original. Heater boxes and cores in place with their controls. The year date entered above is somewhat speculative and fulfills e-Bays requirement of a year date. This truck could well be of an earlier vintage. This vehicle will come with a bill of sale. No title is available as the person from whom I purchased the Omni is quite advanced in age and was unable to locate such. This is a NO RESERVE auction as my starting price is the least I am willing to sell this highly restoreable historical vehicle.
