Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 1963 Restored Classic VW Cal Ragtop Bug These are getting harder and harder to find in a condition that has not been all hacked up and they are starting to pull good money. I bought this off a friend’s son going off to Iraq so I bought it to restore and it has come out very nice. I have sold off most of my cars now and I’m just going to keep my 56 Chevy and Wife’s 34 Plymouth, everything else is going or gone. It is a blast to drive and everyone loves it everywhere we go, old and young alike, male or female. It’s just a cool ride and ready for any show or beach party! It would be no problem as a daily driver as it is economical, good on gas and very reliable. I have not had a single issue with it since done except a small oil leak from the dip stick as it is a universal style case. I already replaced that part and leak seams to have gone away. Paint was done about a year and a half ago and it is Lexus Sage Green two stage with extra clear coat so it can be polished out to a glass finish (though it looks great as is, it has not been color sanded or polished out yet). There was some rust on the battery area and rear pans so that was replaced. Other then that, car is solid and as you can see in the picks of the restore, the entire interior was dynamate’d and sound proofed as the last two pictures show. You can hardly hear the engine with all the windows closed. The interior is all new leather door panels, seats and headliner with a Canvas top to match. Not the cheap bug stuff they sell over the internet, this was all done by a customer interior guy. Everything works as it was intended and it has four three point seatbelts and a single lap belt in the rear center, all new Wolfberg. It has a very strong running 1641 with dual Kadrons and lots of engine detail and roughly 4000 miles since rebuilt by two brothers racing Ontario Ca. It starts up every time and no real driving quirks about it. Trans is a freeway flyer that works great but I do not know the actual miles as it was operating fine before rebuilt so I just left it alone. Again, no real issues with transmission or clutch and work well. eb Has completely all new brakes all around with front disk and stops on a dime. Rims have no scratches and shine up very nice, Tires are less than 200 mils on them. Every rubber piece was replaced and windows work great including two rear quarter pop outs, hard to find for early bugs. Gas tank is new as well as HID’s. The entire electrical wiring was replaced by a bug specialist and it looks very nice and clean. There is currently no stereo in it at this point as I just never got around to it. I will include the Aloha Surf racks if buy it now is used. If buyer wants it, I will throw in all the extra parts I have although you may not need them for anything. Just let me know. Distributor is a new 091.2. Underside of pan is not painted and there is currently no rust needed to be replaced. All repairs have been done and exposed for visual inspection.3. Interior is less then a month old. Flawless and includes new rag top and headliner.4. Shocks are KYBs.
