1953 M38A1 WILLYS JEEP (ARMY) DONT BE ALARMED BY 0 FEEDBACK, NEW ACCOUNT TO SAVE ON FEES Up for grabs is an authentic 1953 willy s army jeep which is the militarized version of the CJ5 civilian jeep that we all know and love. These jeeps are much heftier and more robust than their civilian counterparts. Mechanically, the jeep in in excellent shape with a strong running 4 cyl engine (which I believe was rebuilt but I can not confirm it). The clutch is good. The brakes have an unusually strong, hard pedal and also appear to have been recently rebuilt (very slight pull to left I think, VERY easy adjustment) but they stop the jeep very well considering age and design. Emergency brake actually works. Body has almost NO rust save a tad (surface) around the lip of the tool box (the box itself was preserved with stop-rust and is in great shape). There is also a little 3''x3'' sheet metal work in the bed where I think the mount for the machine gun used to go. Gas tank is new. Floor boards great. Steering is unuslaly tight for this vintage and type of vehicle. Headlights work on low beams I think, brake lights and running lights work. As usual speed- o does not. Comes with jerry can. 4x4 works great in both ranges. Has semi correct military paint jobs with correct hood markings and stars ect. (hood star is decal). Tires are good. Overall, jeep is in driveable condition. PLEASE NOTE. I am representing this jeep to the best of my ability, however, understand that jeep is NOT perfect (sold as is). However, it IS derivable and considering how rare these are the price is great for either a driveable vehicle or for a good start to a restoration project.
