Vehicle Detail
Do you love going to the gas station? Do you wake up excited to see how high gas prices are every morning? Does throwing your hard earned money onto some foreign oil baron's money pile give you a thrill? Then this auction is NOT for you! Up for sale is my 2000 Honda Insight. This is a great little car and a perfect introduction to Hybrids. Great for college students on a budget, or anyone interested in saving real money, having a noticeable positive impact on your environment, or parking where no man has parked before. It's hard to believe that so few of these cars were sold. I guess it was a bit before its time, as there were only a few spurts of $2+ gas prices during its production run. I am including the K&N filter with the car. Also, hybrids of all types are exempt from CA SMOG testing, so you're going to save there as well! I honestly hate to part with this car. I've owned it for about a year, and finally decided that I need four seats so I went and got a new Prius C. The Prius has also been great so far, but I will sorely miss the 10+ MPG and the manual transmission I'm losing in the deal. Driving a car like this changes the way you think. I owned a 2007 Subaru Legacy Spec B along side this car, but found in the end that I was only driving the Subaru to keep the battery from failing. Once you spend a couple of months getting 60+ MPG, it's very hard to say, "What the heck, 20 MPG is good enough for me." You can see in the pics that this car has averaged 58.7 MPG from the day it was built. On the freeway, on a reasonably warm, clear day, it's not impossible to crest 70 MPG at 65 MPH. The mileage is a little sensitive in the city, but the worst tank I've pulled was slightly above 55 MPG. A full tank of gas will get you anywhere from 500 to 700 miles down the road depending on your driving habits. The A/C works great as well. Check out InsightCentral.net for helpful tips on how to increase your fuel economy in this beauty. The battery pack on this car was changed at 117715 miles on 4/1/10. The clutch was changed at 115028 miles on 10/26/09. The previous owner and I have kept a huge file of all service and maintenance records for the car. You get that file as well. (See photo) Some notes: Despite being in great condition, the car does exhibit normal signs wear and tear. There are a couple of chips in the paint where someone missed the keyhole in the dark (Don't ask me how you accomplish this with remote keyless entry). There is an adhesive ring left on the center lower part of the dash (pictured) where the previous owner had installed a satellite radio mount. I tried to remove it, but didn't get far. There is about a foot and a half long scratch on the right front quarterpanel. This scratch is very light. If you're looking for it, you'll see it, but it was very difficult to get it to show up in the photo. Also, the rear spoiler is starting to loose its clear coat, as you can see in the straight on rear photo. This car is not fond of overloading. Max weight of passengers and cargo (rated by Honda) is 400 lbs. It's also very low to the ground for aerodynamics, so take it easy on speed bumps. Why is the decal missing from the engine cover? Your guess is as good as mine. As you can see in the pics, there are a few miscellaneous decals on the car, including the yellow CA HOV lane stickers, which CA law no longer holds valid as of July 2011. The car comes with two remotes and two keys. One of the remotes has a broken case so you can't put it on a keyring, and one of the keys won't start the car because the ECU was replaced at some point and not programed to the spare key. Your Honda dealership can reprogram it. I never had a need. So there is one complete and working key/remote set. Please feel free to ask any questions you like about the vehicle! I'm happy to answer any inquiries! $500 Paypal deposit required within 24 hours of auction close. For security reasons, I would prefer the remaining sum in cash, but I am willing to discuss personal or certified check if you are willing to wait for the check to clear your bank before taking delivery of the vehicle. Buyer is responsible for any and all costs associated with delivery of the vehicle. On May-20-12 at 16:13:12 PDT, seller added the following information:
