Vehicle Detail
This Cabriolet was in great shape until some guys decided to steal the expensive radio cd player that my son had put in, they cut the top with a knife and stole the stereo, apparently these geniuses could not get it out easily so they ripped half the dashboard out and destroyed it. The car had to be towed back home and since it could not be driven was put aside in the backyard, it stayed there for six months and then was put in a friend's garage where it has been for the last three years. My son wanted to have it fixed but never got around to it and now my friend would like it out to make room for another car. I don't really care what it sells for and I want to keep my long time friend :-) that is why I put it up for sale with no reserve. The only thing that I want is to have it paid for by May 25th and out by May 28th so if you don't think that you can do that please don't bid on it or at least contact me via ebay messages before placing a bid. I will not refund a winning bidder that is unable to commit to these dates which is the only restriction I impose. If no one bids on it or if it is not picked up by that date it will go to charity. I will help with shipping to anywhere but you will have to arrange and pay for a pick up from West Palm Beach. Please note that it is NOT drivable as is but that it can be towed on its own wheels with a tow bar. Now for a description of the car. The body is in great shape with very few tiny spots of surface rust (barely noticeable), the metallic blue paint is very decent, it has a few dings here and there but only minor, driver side door from shopping mall parking, rear left plastic fender trimming is scratched, front plastic bumper has a few scratches and there is a small ding in the front left fender. Before it was vandalized it had had a rebuilt engine put in. I have an invoice to prove it, it reads: short block and head rebuilt (whatever that means) and replaced along with a bunch of other things for $2267.21 by the VW shop in Opaloka in 2003. Since the work was done the car was driven for less than 25,000 miles. The two "cv joints" were also changed, says my son. The aluminum alloy rims, although with a few scratches, are in great shape and so are the tires which have less than 4000 miles. The engine cranks over freely. As you will see the seats and upholstery are in poor shape because it was rained on when it stayed outside with its gash in the roof. It is also missing a few parts that I gave to a friend who owns a similar car. Parts that are missing are: latches for the top, the alternator, spare wheel, some inside trimmings, the fuel cap, the window crank handles and probably other gizmos here and there but nothing major and obviously the rag top is worthless and the complete dashboard with all gauges is missing and so is the expensive stereo (sic)... One more important detail is that it comes with a clear Florida title. I am selling this car as is and with no guaranty, warranty, or anything of the sort. Payment will have to be Paypal or cash and before May 25th and I repeat pickup before may 28th. It is listed for sale through other means so I reserve the right to end this auction as long as no bids have been placed here on ebay, so if you want it, place your bid now before it's too late. Need more info, photos? Please ask, I'll respond quickly.
