Up for sale is my early 1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500. This car was built for driving and not for show. It has it's flaws, like most Triumphs. Such as leaving a spot of oil here and there, even after new pan gaskets. The car photographs very well but as I said before, it's not a show car. I worked on it for three years as a rolling restoration, not a frame off restoration. I wanted a back road vehicle not a garage queen. When I started the resto, it had a solid floor pan, except for a two inch rust spot on the driver's side floor pan. I cut that out and glassed it in. Now to the things I've added, I'm sure I'll miss a few things but I'll try and give as much as I can.New Robbins convertible top, newly upholstered seats,The rebuilt engine was balanced, with mild upgraded cam added and new pistons. New Flame Thrower distributor, aluminum flywheel,new front brake calipers w/ brake upgrade, new rear brake drums. Stainless steel braided brake lines (on the front brakes) New high torque starter, new aluminum radiator, new front adjustable shocks with adjustable coil over springs, New rear adjustable shocks, new heavy duty front sway bar, new quick ratio steering rack, new ball joints and tie rods, fuel pressure regulator, red top Optima battery, new gas tank, New VW seat belts, new aluminum water pump, custom PRI exhaust headers with custom PRI side exhaust muffler assembly, custom PRI quad, carburetors, custom made K&N air filters, custom made trunnionless front suspension kit (these don't break or need oil, made by Canley Classics in England), aluminum screened in front grill ( to keep the radiator free from stones), front and rear wheel adaptors which allow the use of fifteen inch tires and wheels. There are four SSR dark anthracite 15 inch light weight wheels that weigh in at just under 9 pounds each and 15 inch Kuhmo tires. This car handles far better than my driving abilities, which makes for very easy drives on the twisting back roads in my area. It usually takes the carbs and header combination about fifteen minutes to warm up but after that this car drives like a dream. That being said, Triumphs need their maintenance. This car has less than four thousand miles on the rebuilt engine and less than five hundred miles driven in the last year. I need to sell it because of another project.
