DESCRIPTION: An auto mechanic disassembled this Model A coupe for restoration about 50 years ago, but the project was not completed. All parts were stored in a dry garage. All car parts will be sold together as a group (see photos). Completeness cannot be guaranteed! However, no parts were sold off over the years, so the car should be essentially complete (don’t know if any parts might have been too damaged to be saved when disassembled, or if something might have been inadvertently tossed out over the decades of storage). The car was in working order before disassembly. Most of the metal parts were cleaned, and a primer coat applied before storage. The engine was most likely rebuilt before storage, but it is conceivable that it might have frozen from internal rust over the years (there is some superficial rust showing on the external engine surface—your inspection can be arranged—see engine photos). Upholstery, wiring, glass, and chrome are as disassembled and are not restored. There are no tires. Small parts (nuts, bolts, small fittings, etc.) are organized in "unlabeled" glass jars (the tape holding the labels disintegrated). The car parts are superficially dusty, but they have kept in fair condition over the years of dry storage. The large metal body parts should not require much body work—the original car was in good condition so little body work was needed. Odometer mileage before disassembly unknown. E-mail me with your specific condition questions before bidding. I’m not a mechanic or restoration expert, but, as a child, I helped with the original restoration work. Buyer to pay all costs associated with pick-up or delivery (delivery must be arranged by buyer). The car title is in the name of a deceased person, buyer pays all costs of title modification/transfer (if title is necessary). Inspection of the car can be arranged in Carlisle—inspection is highly recommended because condition varies across the various parts of these antique cars. Please e-mail me to arrange inspection in Carlisle. The car would make an excellent starting point for a Model A restoration project. Many hours of the restoration, especially the dirty work, is finished! Novices should be aware that they will need the advice of an expert Model A restorer, or a detailed reconstruction manual, to figure out how the bits and pieces fit together. However, these antique cars have many fewer parts than modern cars. Experts will appreciate the increasing rarity of finding reasonably complete Model A’s for restoration, especially one with the cleaning basically done. I hope this car finds a good home that appreciates the heritage provided by these antique Fords (and rumble seats)!
