Vehicle Detail
OK. all you low ballers and hagglers win. I'm giving in. I had a ton of $1000 offers for this car which I had listed for $1500 and still think it's worth more than that. Nice and friendly buyers will get extra parts along with the car. From a long time Mercedes Benz Club Owner... Nice honest car that doesn't look or drive like a 22 year old car. Has been my son's college car and most recently, my daily driver. Always had a rock-solid idle, the best of the all the 300E's I've had over the past 15 years. Sunday, while I was changing the spark plugs, I noticed that oil was fouling the spark plug in the #6 cylinder- possible leaking head gasket. For sure at least the valve oil seals for #6 need to be changed. It's time for me to pass it on to someone who'll rebuild her and give her a new home. Honestly, I'm am torn about giving her up though. She was my youngest's son's first car and he used his own money to pay for a good portion of her. I'm one of those neat and tidy guys so the car is in very good shape. This is way too good a car to go to the salvage yard or the state auto reclamation program for $1,000. Comes with: Owner's manuals, Mercedes tool kit, Mercedes First Air kit, Mercedes jack and full size spare. There's no oil in the coolant and no coolant on the dip stick. None of the chocholate brown stuff that you find with a leaking head gasket anywhere. Normal operating temp. As you can tell from the maintenance list below, I had planned to keep her for quite good a while longer. What's good about the car: (most everything) ALL SACRAMENTO VALLEY/ CALIFORNIA, NON-SMOKER OWNED CAR The interior is excellent for being 22 years old- no cracks on the dash, headliner in excellent shape, door pilar cover edges need to re-glued (typical) Super clean and tidy engine bay No warning lights on (all of them are connected) Outside temp display works (most 300E's you'll find, don't have this working) Speedo cluster works and was replaced at 154k with one that read 184K (currently reads 202k miles, approx. 170k actual miles, that's about 7,700 miles per year over 22 years). Mileage lables are attached to the door jam per the DMV instructions. Carpet in great condition with no funky stains All the windows work. Window motors have all been replaced at one time or another. Dark window tint in very good condition on all windows except front windows (CA legal). No bubbles. Seats work Climate control works- blower and regulator replaced and working at the different speeds Heat and Defrost work- no leaking heater core Straight body, no rust, minimal door dings Paint shinny with only the top of the driver's fender and the pass. rear fender slightly faded New water pump and thermostat Newer radiator New thermo fan pulley New serpentine belt Replaced belt tensioner and shock Replaced A/C condenser fans New regulator Replaced battery Just did a tune up New air filter New oil and oil filter New trans oil, filter and gasket New stock hood pad New valve cover gasket Newly repainted valve cover in black Wrinkle paint Winshield washer fluid heating system works (heated water and heated washer jets- almost always not working in other 300E's) Central locking works Barely any oil leaks of any kind, 1-2 drops every so often Repairs I had planned to make: Replace A/C compressor- spins but doesn't hold refrigerant Sunroof binds when it lowers to slide back Cruise control doesn't stay on Can't lock the driver's door from the outside (I think someone tried to take her). You can still put the key in and unlock the door. Typical cracking of the interior wood trim I'm hoping some MBZ fan can keep her going. Serious cash inquiries only. AS-IS. Sale is final. No Refunds. Buyer is responsible for passing the smog test. She will not pass as is. She still idles fine and will drive for 10-15 mintues before she will start to smoke. I highly recommend that you have her towed or trailered when you take her away. I have the pink, clear title NOT salvage. It is in my name and in my possession. Thanks, Al Folsom,CA 925-207-9596
