Vehicle Detail
For sale, with no reserve! I hate to get rid of this truck, but I have way too many toys, and a ZO6 is in my near future. I bought this truck from a dealership in Gilbert AZ about a year ago off eBay. This was a one owner consignmet sale by Steel Dreamz. The orginal owner had this truck titled briefly up North in Colorado, but was it was never driven in the salty winters, it was in AZ and California its entire life. This truck is in great shape, not a bit of rust anywhere, all original paint, and it is in great shape for it's age. This truck has been pampered by the previous owner, as well as myself. The bed has been used to carry average items, and has some scratches. I have the frame rail for the bed cover, the top ripped when I was having it delivered here to AL. Everything on this truck works perfectly. Cold AC with r134 conversion, cruise, etc, all work. I have previously owned Syclones, and a 93 Typhoon, and this is the only one I have owned that has no vibrations at speed. These vehicles are notorious for vibrations at highway speeds. Most common reason are warped wheels from accidents, curbing, pot holes, etc. The wheels, and front prob shaft are all new, or refinished and trued. This truck does not leak any fluids, and it has always had Mobil 1 oil run in it. This truck is very quick for being stock, the engine runs flawlessly, transmission shifts very firm, basically all the drivetrain is in perfect mechanical order. This truck has been a 4th vehicle of mine, and has been super reliable, and its driven usually a few times a week, every week. These trucks speak for themselves in the performance world, they are simply amazing and very fun to drive. I'm sure if your looking at the ad, your very familar with these beasts. This truck was $28,000 new in 1991, and would hang with all the Vettes, and exotics of the day, quite amazing! FYI Jay Leno owns one and loves it, search for the article on Jaylenosgarage.com. List of recent work done to the truck are as follows: The front probshaft has been recently rebuilt, OEM was starting to just very faintly squeak. The windshield was just replaced as the OEM was cracked, The windows were recently tinted also. I replaced the OEM ugly and huge "Dumbo Ears" mirrors with 93 Typhoon mirrors (a huge improvement in looks and aerodynamics) LOL The truck was tuned up 5K miles ago just after I purchased it (plugs, wires, cap & rotor, fuel filter, and i added a cone filter for a louder turbo whine :) I had a complete stereo system installed, Rockford Fosgate amp, Memphis Audio speakers, custom tuned box, and top of the line Memphis Audio sub. I also bought a refurbished 93 Typhoon CD player to use as the head unit, and added an iPod interface. Over $1000 was spent on this setup, and it sounds amazing! The system is totally stock appearing, and was professionally installed by The Speakerbox here in Huntsville. What's the reason for the stock headunit, your asking? I simply wanted the truck to just look all stock, and to prevent anyone possibly breaking into the vehicle. Plus nothing looks worse to me than an aftermarket deck in these trucks sticking out about 2 inches....Why?? The intercooler pump was very weak, and not circulating much water, so it was replaced with a new FORD unit used in the new Shelby Mustangs as the pump on their cooler systems. I had problems purging air out of the system, and I just replaced the hard metal lines with new rubber hoses, seems to work much better. I have all of these orginal hard lines, and OE filter box. I also have a spare crossover air tube that was taken off another Sy when it was new. VERY hard to find, and not brittle. Tires have about 7K miles on them, and are in great shape. New pads and rotors up front and rear shoes were replaced about 6 months ago. I purchased a like new set of take off wheels for the truck about 4 months ago, as two of mine were slighty curbed. I put them on the wheel machine, spun them all w/o tires, and balance was perfect. One front wheel has the clear peeling in one spot, so I purchased another wheel and had it refinished to replace the one. This spare wheel will be included in the sale. This truck has never been modifiled, had a chip, or exhaust changed out. Catalytic converter is still in place, as well as the OEM muffler system. There are holes in the tailpipes and they will need to be replaced one day. These vehicles are very fragile, and do not hold up very well when modified. Wish they were bullet proof like my Grand National! That is the reason I purchased this bone stock truck, and had it shipped 1700 miles across the US!! I am a fanatic about purchasing non-modded vehicles, and always prefer a vehicle with as few owners as possible. The dash is in perfect condition, with no cracks. The interior is in great shape, nothing broken, missing or inoperable, overall these trucks seem to hold up really well over the years. The engine compartment is super clean, as well as underneath of the truck. The only small mechanical problem with this truck is the typical old GM valve guide seal seepage. If the truck sets for several days, it will smoke for just a second on startup, as some oil leaks through the valve seals overtime. It's an easy but time consuming fix, but I have not got around to replacing them, the truck never smokes after start up, and has run flawlessly for all the miles I have put on it. If anyone tells you their old GM running synthetic oil it's entire life doesn't do this, I would be skeptical :) Just search on Google for "GM 4.3 valve guide seal leaking" and see for yourself. The right rear cladding piece has a crack in it, that can be easily repaired, as no plastic material is missing. The only other issue is the drivers side door lock actuator rod needs adjusting. Most times it moves far enough to lock, but sometimes it does not. The right front piece has a bottom corner that broke off, and is not very noticeable, but sadly it's there. Lastly, the seat bottom side bolster has wear, the rest of both seats look as new. The replacement seat botttom covers are still available for purchase. ****This truck is consided a "Classic Car" and lending institutions will (and did) loan the money to buy this truck. They will loan 80% of NADA book value (as of today is $15,000 for average condition) I was able to finance 4 years at 3.25% interest! If the truck sells, I will need to take a money order to the bank and pay off the loan. Title will be available in a few days I'm told. I have taken about two dozen pictures of the truck today, so if anyone wants to see more pictures, I will gladly send them. I honestly hate to see this truck go, but I am really wanting a new Vette, as I lost mine recently in a divorce... I sure do miss just that car! I've had several ask if the truck has been buffed. It has not, I'm sure if someone was brave enough to get a black vehicle buffed, more power to them. The truck would probably look even better if it was done professionally, but I have seen too many vehicles with swirled up paint, that would drive me crazy! NOTE: I have added, per many requests, a few more pictures of specifics on the Sy. I will also post and answer several questions that I have received on the truck. I just posted pictures of a wheel, door panels, speaker box, the crack in cladding, and underhood pictures. The max number of pictures on ads is 24, and I have now reached the limit. On the cracked cladding piece: I talked with a body guy about the cracked RR cladding, a repair would run about $200 to drill out the rivets, epoxy the plastic crack, and line it all back up. These ground effect/cladding pieces are all available on the internet if you wanted to just replace it. Yes, the truck does still have the bed cover, it is ripped, but I have all of the pieces. The OEM unit was made by Lund, and they are still available for parts, and/or the entire kit, to put the truck back as original. Yes, the starter wiring harness has also been upgraded (Friday as a matter of fact by a local shop). An avid colletor brought this to my attention with a question, and upon inspection, mine was almost a statistic. It seems that these trucks had an issue with the starter harness getting hot, and melting, as they are close to the crossover pipe. This one was not melted, but it had gotten hot, and the loom was a little melted, but wires were still perfect. Yes, the truck does still have the ABS module, and it performed flawlessly. Some owners years ago removed these units because of problems, and it was roughly $1000.00 to replace this unit at that time. (refurbished units are now available now quite reasonable I'm told, but you must have an origianl for a core). This brake system has been flushed, and as long as the fluid is flushed regularly to keep moisture out, these units should survive fine. The AC system works very well and it still is the original Harrison compressor. I did have it charged up Friday while the starter harness was upgraded. The compressor is super quiet, and it was cycling a bit from being low on freon over the winter. We found the high side fitting shrader valve was leaking ever so slightly, and replaced it. If I were to keep the truck, I would put R12 back in it, if that's possible to flush system w/o changing the compressor. R12 is a much better refridgerant as it cools much better, and actually carries the oil charge in suspension better than 134. And No, my GN in the background is not for sale...LOL I don't really want to even sell this Sy, but I don't want any of my babies parked outside! I am as honest as the day is long, and have tried to do my very best to describe this truck as well as possible. I have been toying with old cars for 30 years now, and have a pretty good sense of a vehicle's condition and originality. This is a great vehicle, and it will be missed. Any more questions, just ask me, Ohh and don't forget to bid ;) If anyone has any questions, please call me, shoot me a text, or email me here on eBay. Thanks, Jimmy 256-797-3841
