Vehicle Detail

To begin, there is a BUY IT NOW price on this RARE car that may or may not appear on the main screen. The price will be good for the entire sale up until the last 12 hours, after which eBay will not allow me to end the auction. To be fair, you should know that ALMOST ALL of my cars sell with the BUY IT NOW option so don't wait until the last minute to bid as it may not be available by then. The BUY IT NOW on this car is $6,300.00 and that INCLUDES free delivery to anywhere in the continental USA. I will also discount that price by $800.00 if you want to come and pick it up. Sorry but I cannot include Alaska and Hawaii in free delivery. I may be able to include some parts of lower Canada. Please see details below on delivery. If you want to use the BUY IT NOW feature, all you have to do is contact me (call 270-577-1821) and we can work it out and I will end the auction with you as the high bidder, per eBay rules. Please understand that the free delivery is ONLY with the Buy It Now option. If it sells for less than the Buy It Now, this will not include delivery.. I want to restate that about 90% of the vehicles I list sell before the end of the auction. If you want it, call me. Don't be upset if you try to wait it out and it's gone! Now let's get to the details on the car! As an offer of extra security to distant bidders, I want to make it plain that we are not in the business of misrepresenting our cars like some folks do. I try to list every single thing that there is to know about the car. I am human and can miss something but I do personally inspect, drive and check-out each and every car that I put on eBay. If there is ANY problem that I can find, it will be listed. It will also be address, when possible. If you buy the car and make the required deposit, when you come to get the car, if there is an issue that I was not aware of, you will have the option to walk away and get every cent of your deposit back. Now we cannot be responsible for your transportation cost but we are not EVER going to keep a deposit if the car is not right. This does not cover items that are mentioned in the description or that should be plainly visible or for silly things like you or the wife do not like the paint color or the way the seats "feel". But it is intended for items that may have been missed that have a serious impact on the car's value or function. We will do our best to correct anything that we did not notice or we will refund the deposit. If you are having the car delivered, different circumstances apply but that is covered below. These are few and far between. They are getting rarer and rared as each day goes by and there will NEVER be another one made! Own a TRUE piece of automotive history when you buy a car like this. This is a 1923 Ford Model T pick-up truck. It has been restored and can truely be said that it is in better condition than the day it came off the assembly line brand new. Back then they did not make these cars to last 10 years, much less 100. This one has been restored and looks great. The metal has been restored and is rust free. The wood has either been restored, when possible, or replaced with exact duplicate wood where the original could not be saved. The screws that have been used to put it back together are now alloy and made to not rust, unlike the originals that came apart within a few years. Back then, they did not use rust prevention and these cars did not last too long. Plus the wood was not protected and most of the cars were not kept inside so they deteriorated quickly. Because of this, there are not too many of them left around. But with this one, everything that needed to be corrected was done. It has the beautiful original REAL wood wheels and the original flathead 4 cylinder engine. Except for a few wires that need to be connected, you can't fault this car for almost anything. Please read further to get a better idea of the full condition of the car. The exterior of this antique is really is better than new. It is finished in correct semi-gloss black paint on the metal body parts and body is in excellent condition with no issues at all. There is absolutely no damage anywhere on the entire car. The paint is good and has no serious problems. The only place I would mention on the paint is the top of the passenger front fender. There is a minor scuff that has been repainted with the correct paint but they did not smooth the scuff out first. It is not a dent, just a small scuff in the paint. It can easily be sanded out with wet sandpaper and repainted in less than an hour. No body shop needed. The car has NO dents, nicks, major paint issues, dull spots, runs, overspray or other issues. This was a professional restoration done with almost no expense spared, There is no evidence of ever having previous damage. It has the original flathead 4 cylinder engine and the car has all the correct emblems attached. It is also the black vinyl top,as seen in the photos. All of the emblems are in perfect shape. The chrome has all been professionally replated or replaced with top quality NOS style items. The car also has new rubber seals throughout. The door, hood and trunk jambs are in great shape and I have extra photos of them, if you need them. This car appears to be all original and not some made-from-extra-parts car. The floors are great and the truck bottom is perfect. I also have photos of those. I can only put 24 pics on eBay so if you want more, I will have to send them to you. I have found absolutely no issues with the car at all except for the wiring connections I mentioned above. These are the headlights and they need to be connected. Since the car was converted from a crank start to a 6 volt system, the former owner never connected the headlights as the car was NEVER driven at night. You may not want to bother with it either but if so, it is an easy fix. Very minor but I want to mention both of them. I did drive the car to see how it was before listing it. For a car that is almost 100 years old, it was great! As with all cars this age, it takes a minute to get them going but once it started, it went along pretty well. I want to emphasis that this car is NOT some hack job like you sometimes find on here. This is about as nice a restoration that you will find unless you spend $50,00.00 on the car and having it done. On to the interior. There is not much to say in this catagory. The car has the original wood seat, no doors and no windows except the windshield. This is exactly how it was made. Large original steering wheel, all original floor and dash levers and the really cool MANUAL windshield wiper. We had more fun with that silly wiper than than about anything else. We had never seen one before. When you need to wipe the outside of the glass, you twist the handle on the inside of the glass and it makes the wiper on the outside wipe. Really neat. The intererior is basic and just as original as the outside. You can see what it looks like in the photos. It is EXACTLY like it came from back in 1923. And now for the mechanics. If you are looking for fast, this is NOT the car for you! It is the original flathead 4 cylinder small block with NO modifications, other than electrical, and it is connected to a 2 speed manual transmission. I am going to try to describe the way this car operates as best I can. If you expect a standard operation, you are going to be pretty surprised. It has no brakes and no clutch. This is the way they were made and it takes some getting used to. On the steering column, there are two levers. One is the throttle and one is a timing advance. There is no gas pedal and it is done from the lever on the column. There are 3 pedals on the floor and one long shift lever. The pedal on the right makes the car stop, although it is not really a brake by standard terms. It is a differential brake and applies pressure on the rear axle to stop the car. There are no other brakes. The center one makes the car go forward and the left one makes it go backward. The long shifter lever allows you to pick from neutral, a low, slower gear for forward and also a higher, faster gear for forward. They say this car will reach about 40 miles per hour and I think mechanically, it probably can. But I do not suggest taking it that fast. These cars have VERY sensitive steering with those large wheels and going that fast is asking for trouble. This is a parade car and should be kept at about 15 to 20 mph to be operated safely. Mind you, there is nothing wrong with the car to keep you from doing what you want with it. But they have minimal suspension and are rough on bumps, no safety features such as seatbelts, no doors, and sensitive steeing. Going fast is risky. This car is best used for slow speed travel and shows. The engine and trans both operate well. This is an ancient carburated engine with a manual choke and takes a bit to get started when cold. The car was originally a crank start and that has been converted to an electric start with a 6 volt system. The original crank is still in place at the front of the car, as seen in the photos. Once the car gets going, it putts along as it should and will start easily every time until it sits and gets cold again. At that time, you just have to choke it and start it again like any other older manual choke car. The car does have a new exhaust system in place. The engine runs cool, has good oil pressure and no internal noise. The car is beautiful and ready for you to enjoy as a showpiece or investment! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Questions and answers: Let me cover a few questions that I am sure I will get 100 times while this auction is running. Also, please check the eBay question and answer section below the photos to see if your question has already been covered. * Will you trade for my ................. (fill in the blank)? You are welcome to e-mail what you have but a few things to keep in mind. I am a dealer. I am not going to trade you even unless you are offering something that is beyond belief. We are likely well away from where you are. If you have something to offer, it will have to be seen in person and that makes it difficult. I will need detailed photos just to give it thought. I am not interested in snowmobiles, jetskis, john boats, bass boats, ex-wives (or current ones!), or ANY type of project vehicle. I will consider items such as sports cars. large boats or items that are sellable quickly. I do not have time or the ability to deal with anything that I will have to put much effort into. * Does this car have airbags and seatbelts? NO to seatbelts and NO to airbags. There are NO safety features of any kind in place on this car and is not required to in any state. due to the age of the car. * Will this car pass emissions in my state? I have no idea. I am in Kentucky and we have no emissions testing here. I have no way to test it for any state and I have no idea what your state requires. Some states make exceptions for antiques. It is 100% up to you to check on these items for yourself. If you buy the car, you buy the car. It will be your responsibilty to make it meet whatever requirements your state has. There may be no changes that need to be made since it is an antique but keep in mind that you will not be allowed to back out of the sale should you not put any effort into finding out BEFORE you bid. Please refer to the last paragraph that covers non-payment. I don't mean to sound like a jerk here but the last time I failed to mention this I had an idiot in California complaining that their 1978 VW Beetle convertible did not have a catalytic converter on it! They were not made with converters in 1978 and there is NOTHING I can do about it. * Will you ship internationally? Yes, I will but it is your responsibility to find out the costs. I am happy to help make the arrangements and have shipped numerous cars internationally. If you use the Buy It Now, or pay extra for me to do it, I will get it to a shipping port. Please understand that a price a shipper gives you is from a port city. We are not on the ocean and the car will have to be transported to the port. That will be extra. I WILL NOT accept money orders, cashier's checks or any other check for international shipping. Payment will be made by a bank wire transfer and by no other means, except in some cases with Canada. I WILL NOT accept anything but the deposit through Paypal as their fees are too high to process large amounts through. * Will this be a good car for my teenaged son/daughter? They really like it and want me to buy it for them. This simplest answer to this is that you would be an idiot to buy a car like this for a teenaged driver. Not only is it too expensive to put a young person in, it is WAY to powerful and would just be plain dangerous. This is a classic vehicle and young people need to be only passengers in it. They DO NOT have the experience required to control this car, and yes, that includes your child. I don't mean to sound like an ass but I am stunned at the number of adults who write or call me when I run a car like this and want to put a teenager in. Young drivers have no idea what is involved in caring for a car like this nor the amount of money needed to keep it nice. Parents should use their heads and put junior in a Honda or Toyota and leave cars like this to experienced owners and drivers. Again, DO NOT buy this car for a young person! The car is up to par but, to be direct, your teenager is NOT! * Do you have any documentation on this car? Some. Remember that the car has been owned by a collector for many years. Some cars we have lots of paperwork on, some very little. I do not know what we have on each and every car as we have more than 600 but whatever paperwork the builder/owner provided us and you are welcome to it. I have numerous photos of the underside of this car and many of other sections. I will be more than happy to send them to you but you will have to send me your direct e-mail address. I cannot send photos through the eBay mail system as they will not allow it. Below covers delivery and shipping options as well as ways to contact me directly should you want to discuss anything at all. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A little about us. We are a mid-sized dealership in Western Kentucky that specializes in only sports and luxury cars and specialty trucks. We don't sell minivans and station wagons. We have indoor storage for Porsches, Corvettes, Lotus, Ferrari, ect. We sell only top of the line cars and never list one on eBay that we know has a problem. As with all things mechanical, things break down and we will always do anything within reason to assist after the sale. This does not imply that we provide a lifetime warranty on your car! All cars are sold as is unless I specifically say there is a factory warranty on them. Should you have a problem any time in the future, even 10 years from now, we will do all we can to help. We will get you parts at dealer cost, recommend trustworthy mechanics, locate used parts, ect. for as long as you own the car. Just let us know what you need. You are strongly encouraged to come and see the car in person. We will be glad to have you come in and take the car out to lunch or dinner. As long as you are a serious buyer, we'll pay for a nice meal and you can go and enjoy the car. ( This offer does not apply to teenaged buyers without a parent present. We reserve the right to verify anyone's ID and their ability to buy prior to letting them run off with a free car. Hope you can understand. I also have to mention, based on a recent incident, that the dinner offer does not apply to you and 20 relatives! I now have to limit it to you and a spouse or mate. Always has to be some idiot to ruin a good thing. ) Come play with it. Make sure the car is as we say. Make sure you fit the car and the car fits you. Take it to a mechanic and have it looked at. Do anything within reason to make sure it is the car you expect! As for the free delivery mentioned above. The details are simple. If you use the Buy It Now, I will deliver the car or truck anywhere in the mainland US for free. I may be able to include lower Canada but you must check with me on that first. There are rules that apply to importing into Canada and all taxes and tariffs will be the buyer's responsibility. If I am delivering, I solely reserve the right to decide on how the vehicle gets to your location. I may have it shipped by professional car delivery service, I may delivery on my personal trailer or I may drive the car to you and fly back home. Driving it to you likely won't happen with a classic or antique car. I will usually trailer it or ship it. If I drive one this will, of course, add a few miles but that can't be helped. Since I am paying for it, I have to consider distance, expense, time I have on hand, ect. Payment must be made IN FULL before the vehicle will leave our location. No exceptions will be made, not even to dealers! An important factor that you need to know. As with any auto dealer, most cars are purchased on what is called a "floor plan". This is a line of credit that the dealer uses to buy the cars he sells. The creditor holds the title on the vehicle until it is paid for. This car is no different. When you buy it, we will send the payment to the creditor and they will send us the title, usually within a couple of days. We will then send it overnight to you. We will happily provide you a 60 day temp tag at no cost to make sure you can enjoy your car until the title arrives and you can license it. This will not be an issue if we are delivering the car. If that is the case, I will most likely have the title with me at that time, under normal circumstances. Fees and taxes. In most cases, taxes will be paid by the buyer in their own states. There are, however, 7 states in the US that REQUIRE that Kentucky collect their taxes. If that is the case, there will be NO EXCEPTION to that rule unless you are a licensed dealer and can prove it. In that case, the car will ONLY be transferred into the dealership name. If you are an individual in a taxable state, we will collect the tax before the car can leave here so keep that in mind. Some of those states are South Carolina, Florida, Arizona, California, Indiana and a couple of others. Nothing we can do about it. Also, Kentucky requires that we collect a $50.00 processing fee. This is NOT an in-house fee. It goes directly to the state of KY. All buyers will pay it regardless of what state they are in. We DO NOT charge hidden, in-house fees like some dealerships on here do! That is just a way to cheat buyers out of more money and we refuse to do that garbage. I strongly suggest that buyers refuse to pay those stupid fees when they enounter them. It is just an unfair practice! If this sale is for a camper, boat or RV, (something that one could sleep in for short or extended periods of time) some states require that we collect a fire inspection fee. If you are in one of those states, this will apply. It varys by state but in most cases, it is about $150.00. This is ONLY for campers, RVs and boats in SOME states. Bidding and payment terms are pretty simple as well. DO NOT bid of you have no money! These auctions are expensive and I will not allow zero or low feedback bidders to bid. If you do, I will cancel the bid and block you from bidding again. Negitive feedback is the same as zero feedback as far as I'm concerned. If you are not new to eBay but have no feedback and feel you should be allowed to bid, contact me and we'll work something out. My cell is 270-577-1821. Don't wait until the last minute to do this as it will be too late. As for payment, I expect a $300.00 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours. The remaining amount should be paid within no more than 7 days. I accept any reasonable form of payment but checks must clear before the car will leave here. If you are picking it up, don't expect to show-up on Saturday or Sunday and write a check and leave with the car. Best bet for a weekend pick-up is cash or mail the check in advance so it will clear before you arrive. We will be happy to store the car indoors after payment for as long as needed, within reason, until you can come and get it. If the Buy It Now is not used, I may be willing to deliver the car for a fee but we will need to discuss that in advance. I always welcome deliveries to Florida as I can always use more vacation time! Where we are: Henderson, KY is in Western KY which is close enough to several major cities that you can fly into them. We are about 150 miles from Nashville, TN; 120 miles from Louisville, KY; 180 miles from both Indianapolis, IN and St. Louis, MO. The closest airport is a regional in Evansville, IN. We can make arrangements to pick you up free in Evansville and Louisville, KY. For any of the other airports, we can get you but we'll have to have some help on travel expenses from the buyer. You are more than welcome to call me at any time to ask any question. My cell is 270-577-1821. I can also assist in finding any decent sports or luxury car that you may desire and can get them at less than what you will find them for elsewhere. We thank you for looking and wish you the best of luck in the bidding! Please see our other auctions for more Jaguars, Porsches, ect. as time permits and the weather gets warmer. I absolutely HATE to have to add this paragraph to my auctions but due to recent events, I feel I have no choice. I have lost more than $1000.00 in eBay fees just this month due to non-paying bidders and I'm sick of it! This is not a game. I am an auto dealer and a lot of people rely on these auctions to make their living, to pay their bills and to feed their families. Not only my auctions, but lots of auctions on eBay. When I list a car, it automatically costs me $187.90. When it sells, I send it to get ready for the buyer to pick-up, By the time it's ready to go, I will have spent $300.00 on it. If the buyer does not pay, I have to spend another $187.90 to relist it. This is in addition to the money I have already spent on it. So when one sells and the buyer does not pay, I will have about $700.00 tied up in it. I am no longer going to tolerate non-payment. Understand plainly that if you win and do not pay, I will expect and demand that you will pay the full amount of the expenses that I incur in fees. Not the auto prep fees but the eBay fees. If you do not pay immediately, I WILL file suit on the matter for the full amount of the vehicle, all eBay fees, court cost and attorney's fees. I have not lost a single case in dealing with these issues. I also report to the credit bureau. Cases will be filed in Henderson County, Kentucky which will require that you travel to KY for court. Should you fail to appear, KY law (KRS 514.040) says that I will win by default. I will utilize all options to collect the amounts owed including liens on property and payroll attachments. No excuse will be tolerated. If you make a mistake, do what's right and correct it. If your mistake costs someone money, it is your moral and legal responsibility to pay to correct it. If you don't, then it is my responsibility to protect my business, my employees and my family and collect what is owed me. I fully intend to do so. I don't want to be a jerk and this will not be an issue if everyone plays be the rules and does what they are supposed to! A note to parents: You are responsible for your children's actions. Should you fail to supervise your child and he or she wins an auction, expect that you and that child will be dealt with in the above manner as well, if you don't take care of the expenses that the child causes. Do what's right and avoid all this!!
