Up for Bid is my Beautiful 1967 Volvo P1800S (VIN 24947) in my eyes the best color combo, red on black, with clean title in hand & Offered @ No Reserve, so Highest Bid takes her Home!!! I’ve always adored these cars, “The Saint” (Roger Moore) TV show of the 60’s made the P1800 an instant classic and with the looks of an Aston Martin meets Ferrari 250, Volvo did something very right with this design. This is an all original California Black Plate car (whit out was used over yellow characters at some point and I never changed), believed to be a 2 owner car and has been my personal project over the months. I’ll try to be as descriptive as I can be as there are little things to be done at this point, mostly small to really take it to that next level. So let’s start with what I think is most important the mechanics. See the pics below as the engine compartment and engine is very clean and starts right up with the “original” push button start! It has the original Bosch pump, I was told there’s a performance cam, this is an upgraded and more desirable B20 engine with single solex carb, which was rebuilt back in 2004 and has less than 3K miles on the new rebuild (have all receipts) showing cost of $5K+. The transmission was also rebuilt at this time and shifts very well and smooth. The car is an absolute blast to drive but is a cruiser, not a racer by any means, but it does have the desierable Overdrive Switch (5th gear essentially) and if you know these cars I’m sure you can tweak and upgrade especially with headers, dual carbs, etc. I also recently replaced the entire exhaust and added dual exhaust tips, great sound and look. I should also add the car gets great gas mileage, I've driven it all week for under $40 and in this day and age that's hard to come by! The brakes seem to work well, front disc and rear drum, but they still don’t exactly feel like a modern car. Now onto the electrical, most of the gauges are not working. I’ve been meaning to take it to my electrician but I’m fine with feeling the engine and shifting as I feel is needed. As you can also see from the pics, the gauge lights work and are a very nice touch at night. All lighting works, headlights, tail lights, rear plate light, etc. and was an immediate need so we had this fixed right away. The interior as seen below, the seats and dash are great. I planned on taking it to my upholsterer to stretch back the headliner a bit (no tears) or anything, and seal the seat cushions, and epoxy the lower kick panels but I’ve opted to leave along and for the next owner (I bought the epoxy just haven't applied it). I was planning to spend a few hundred or potentially do myself and add adhesive to the lower kick panels and cushions. The vinyl is perfect with no tears, no wear, and the Volvo insignia is present as it should be on the rear seat. The Much preferred 3 spoke steering wheel is in pretty good shape and more importantly, very original. There is an aftermarket in dash CD player the previous owner put in but is not currently hooked up. New chrome sport side mirrors were recently added as well and look awesome. The carpet is in good shape as well and as seen in the pics, one of the most important things to me was there seems to be very little to no rust on the car! The floors are undercoated and was assured from both the previous owner and my body guy, that the floors, wheel wells, rockers and jack points are fine. I have the windshield wipers in the trunk and may need to be replaced as the motors work, but we’re missing the rubber piece. I never take this car out in the rain anyway, so I simply leave them off. Also, speaking of the windshield, there is delamination and at some point should be replaced, but doesn’t need to be done any time soon. I would also replace the outside rubber (weather stripping), which I costed and was pretty cheap, but again, isn’t an immediate need, but I’m leaving to the next owner. The chrome is in great shape with little to no pitting all around and has the desirable early cow-horn front bumper. The grill looks good, but seems to be aftermarket and I’m not sure when this was done. There is little to no bubbling on the paint, just little rock chips, a few scratches here and there (touch up paint was used at one time), and overall I would say the paint job though done years ago, is holding up just fine, but is driver quality paint and with that said this is a driver quality car, not a concourse car. If you’re looking an all original P1800S with documentation and a great solid driver, look no further. As I mentioned at the top there are little things to be done to really take it to that next level, but it’s really great as it is. I'm confident you could drive her from San Francisco (where I'm located) down to SoCal without a problem. This is an exquisite classic car that is so undervalued it’s sickening. These cars in time I’m sure are going to be extremely valuable, especially in this kind of original condition. If they had the Aston or Ferrari badging you would add zeroes to the value! We also added Borrani style wire wheels with knock offs and dome resin Volvo emblems to give that authentic 60’s look and gets tons of compliments. Plus I have a spare tire w/extra wheel and original manual, keychain, Road and Track magazines on the car and countless receipts. Anyway, I wanted to be as descriptive as possible with every little issue as there are always issues with older vehicles, but again, the car receives so many compliments it’s crazy and as you can see it seems to have been well maintained its entire life. I want to add that this is a 45 year old car and there is no warranty implied or expressed. Serious inquiries only, don't bid if you don't have the money, aka don’t waste my time or yours. A lot has been invested by both the previous owner and myself for this car and again is selling at NO RESERVE! I have two restoration projects nearly complete and need to make room in the garage, so it's time to let her go...Feel free to email with questions or to view locally. Thanks for your interest and Happy Bidding!:)
