Vehicle Detail
Here is ONE NICE MERCEDES 300D TurboDiesel! I got bit by the diesel bug about 5 years ago and it all started with an '03 Jetta TDI. After doing a significant amount of additional research on diesel engines and cars, I decided to sell the Jetta and look for a REALLY NICE 300D. I found the car I wanted, bought a plane ticket, flew down and looked at/bought the car, and drove it home. What a joyous 1200mi ride it was! This car lived the first 15 years of its life in the Southern USA. It was purchased new from Park Place Mercedes in Dallas, TX and then purchased by a collector in Minnesota who never drove it in the winter. He then retired to central Florida, where I purchased it. Not wanting to drive this one in Ohio salt, I found an old beater '83 300D with 300k miles on it, patched it up, and it has been my daily driver in the winter. Just look at the pictures of this beautiful car. Folks, it really is this nice! The car has its original paint and finish and has been garaged all of its life up to this point. I have only driven it in clear weather, and a few times where I have been caught out with it in the rain. The engine is beautiful and runs very smoothly. I personally rebuilt the injectors last year and balanced them to within 3-bar of each other. Even on a cold start, there is no knocking or rattling. It runs as smooth as a Singer sewing machine. No burps or hiccups at all. When I had the injectors out, I did a cold compression test and all cylinders tested 300+ psi, which is phenomenal. Car has had an easy 107k+ miles on it and is a joy to drive. Many heads turn whenever I am driving around town. Even the young guys stop and stare, b/c they know that this is a special car. Additionally, I replaced the glow plugs with Bosch Platinum Plus's and went ahead a re-did the front-end last summer with only the best Bilstein components. My reason for selling: I purchased my wife a newer Mercedes C300 (ouch in the wallet!) and I am now driving her hand-me-down 1998 E300 TurboDiesel back and forth to work. So, I'm out of garage space and don't have room for all 4 Mercedes. Ok, so you may be asking what's "wrong" with the car? Answer: Very little, but it does have the following. Small oil drip (mostly all of these leak a little oil), probably from around the air filter or intake on the passenger's side of the engine. Nothing to worry about at all. The engine "uses" no oil, except for the small drip. There is a very small ding on the driver's front fender, barely visible in the photos. It is hardly noticeable, but I wanted to disclose it nonetheless. Lastly, the air conditioning doesn't work to full cool. Probably needs a recharge and/or possibly a new drier. I never really needed the A/C, so I just ran with the sunroof open and the windows down slightly. More pics/movies are available online. Please send an inquiry through the eBay system and I will send you the link. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! If you read the AutoCheck report, when the title was issued to me, the city posted the wrong mileage on it, so a week later they corrected it and reissued it. Rest assured, there are absolutely no problems with the title on this car.
