Vehicle Detail

By far the hardest listing to type, but one that had to be done. This is our 1978 Trans Am that my kids and I planned on doing a full restoration on but am unable to because of my traveling. She is a numbers matching 1978 gold Trans Am with the factory Oldsmobile monster 403 motor and Pontiac transmission. The vehicle has almost every option Pontiac offered in '78 including: Power windowsPower locksPower trunkTilt steeringDefrostACT-Tops The vehicle is all there and does start right. The engine runs strong but her new owner will want to go through it as I'm sure you'll want to replace old gaskets and such. We removed the exhaust and attached some Purple Hornies to the headers so she sounds real throaty in her current state. As you can see in the pics, the vehicle has an 80s repaint but it doesn't matter much as you will want to repaint her back to the factory Gold. The vehicle has Pontiac Rally wheels but I am also including a set of factory Honeycomb Trans Am wheels as well. I have restored many of these Trans Ams over the years and it truly breaks my heart that I have to let this one go. This year Trans Am may possibly be the easiest vehicle to restore - there are a ton of restoration parts companies on the web and virtually every piece of this car is available. The vehicle is located here in Orlando FL and I am available to answer emails so please ask any question. There is a low reserve on this vehicle as to defer any hacks that aren't viable eBayers. As you can see, the car is not a show car in it's current state so please keep that in mind, it will require a restoration in order to drive. This vehicle is a classic muscle car of the 70s and has/will always be a highly collectable car........don't attempt to spend $16k on someone else's idea of a restoration, buy this one today and do it yourself, the right way. You must be prepared to have the vehicle shipped from Orlando so please be sure to have the arrangements ready before the end of the auction. I can assist in the physical aspect of getting her on a trailer but all the costs are your responsibility. In no way am I a collector, paint and body guy or a mechanic - I am not representing this vehicle in any other way but a guy who likes old cars to drive around town in with his family. With that in mind, please email me ANY and ALL questions prior to bidding. Thanks and GOOD LUCK!!!!! On Apr-20-12 at 06:03:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Guys, I have had a TON of great questions (and some were just humorous)....please see answers below: 1) Can she drive currently? Yes, but I do not suggest attempting to without a good tune up and gasket replacement throughout. 2) What does it require for body work? Honestly, no clue, it has no rust around the windows or tops but does on doors, lower fenders and driver's door needs attention at striker. I don't know anything about body work so please ask for any particulars. 3) What is the reserve? Seriously? 4) How is the interior? The rear seats are almost perfect but fronts need attention as does the headliner. As I mentioned in the listing, this is an almost 35 year old restoration vehicle. By no means am I representing it to be anything else than that. Every bidder so far has not asked a single question which implies that they are aware of what's involved in restoring a collector car. If you have any questions, please email them to me and I will reply almost immediately. She deserves to go into the hands of someone who can bring her back to her original pristine state, if you think this is a car to drive away from here please do not bid.
